Abstract

Una pared de casco se forma de dos tipos de fibras de alta tenacidad en múltiples capas de materiales fibrosos. Los materiales fibrosos están en forma de capas de redes fibrosas en una matriz de resina. Existen pluralidades de cada tipo de capas fibrosas. Preferentemente, el grupo externo de capas fibrosas se forma de fibras de aramida y el grupo interno de capas fibrosas se forma de fibras de poliolefina de alta tenacidad. Se puede emplear también un tercer tipo de material fibroso como grupo adicional de fibras y se utiliza como las capas externas de la pared de casco. El tercer tipo de capas fibrosas se forma de fibras de vidrio que se encuentran también en una matriz de resina. El casco es ligero, tiene excelentes propiedades de resistencia balística y es útil para aplicaciones tanto militares como no militares.
