Abstract

La presente invención se relaciona con una lámina resistente a impactos balísticos que comprende una pila de al menos 2 monocapas con una película polimérica en la parte superior de éstas, cada monocapa que contiene fibras o hilos de refuerzo orientadas unidireccionalmente con una resistencia a la tracción de entre 3.5 y 4.5 GPa, y a lo sumo 20% de masa de un material matriz, la densidad de área de una monocapa es de entre 10 y 80 g/m2 y con una dirección de fibra en cada monocapa siendo rotada con respecto a la dirección de fibra en la monocapa adyacente. La lámina resistente a impactos balísticos de acuerdo a la invención puede ensamblarse adecuadamente para formar un ensamble o montaje resistente a impactos balísticos o un artículo resistente a impactos balísticos. Tal artículo resistente a impactos balísticos puede utilizarse, por ejemplo, como indumentaria protectora y chalecos antibalas que ofrecen protección en contra de impactos balísticos tales como balas o fragmentos balísticos.
