Abstract

Se describe una técnica y un aparato para la detección de radiación infrarroja emitida de una muestra de material de radioisotopización como resultado de la excitación de la muestra; el tiempo de desintegración de la radiación es una función de la radioisotopización particular que se esté usando y por lo tanto, si se mide con precisión la característica o signatura de desintegración, se puede identificar con precisión el radioisotopización particular; el aparato comprende un controlar electrónico (10), un par (12) de diodos emisores de luz de iluminación, un fotodetector (14) un primer amplificador (16), un conmutador de muestreo de tres direcciones (18), filtro/memorias(20)(a-c), segundos amplificadores (22)(a-c) y un visualizador de salida (26); se excita la emisión infrarroja iluminación repetidas veces el material durante un periodo de microsegundos cada pocos milisegundos, usando una fuente muy intensa de luz infrarroja; esta luz es suministrada por el par de 940 nm, diodos emisores de luz (12); una vez que se ha apagado esta fuente de luz, la muestra continúa radiando luz infrarroja durante pocos milisegundos; la emisión es detectada por el fotodetector (14) que es sensible solamente a la luz infrarroja en la banda de ondas de 800 a 1000 nm; esto ayuda a rechazar la interferencia de fuentes de luz visible.
