Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a aparato para separar material sólido que contiene un compuesto orgánico volátil (COV), que comprende: a) un secador que comprende una fuente de calor de secador, capaz de calentar el material que contiene COV a una primera temperatura que es suficientemente caliente para volatilizar el COV y está por debajo de la temperatura de desintegración térmica del COV, con lo que el COV en el secador es volatilizado para formar gases de COV; b) medios para la combustión de los gases de COV que comprenden una cámara de calentamiento y una fuente de calor de cámara, capaz de someter los gases de COV en la cámara a una segunda temperatura suficiente alta para descomponer los gases de COV a productos no tóxicos; c) un conductor para transferir los gases de COV del secador a la cámara calentadora; el secador y el conducto previenen sustancialmente la liberación de los gases de COV al ambiente circundante.
