Abstract
La présente invention concerne un procédé de récupération de métaux précieux de base présents dans des minerais oxydés, ledit minerai oxydé comprenant un métal du premier groupe sélectionné parmi le nickel, le cobalt et le cuivre. Le procédé consiste à réduire la grosseur des particules de minerai pour convenir à l'opération suivante, à favoriser le contact pour les éléments métalliques, à mettre en contact le minerai avec du chlorure de fer ou du chlorure ferrique, hydraté ou anhydre, afin de produire un mélange de minerai et de chlorure de fer (ii ou iii) lorsqu'on soumet le mélange du minerai et de chlorure de fer ou de chlorure ferrique à une énergie suffisante pour décomposer les chlorures en acide chlorhydrique et en oxydes de fer du second groupe, à former leurs chlorures respectifs, à dissoudre sélectivement les chlorures de métaux de base produits, à laisser le métal sous forme d'oxydes et sous forme solide, puis à récupérer les métaux précieux de base en solution présents dans la solution aqueuse.
