Two new additions to the CFIHOS Software Conformance Database, and what they actually do I’ve been looking forward to sharing this one. Two engineering information applications we’ve developed at Rihal, Rihal Data eXtract (RDX) and Rihal Data Refine (RDR), have now been published to the CFIHOS Software Conformance Database. For anyone working with Contractor-to-Principal information handover, their purpose is very practical: help reduce the manual effort involved in getting engineering information into the structure and quality required for handover. Both applications sit alongside existing Project Information Management (PIM) systems and can be configured against the CFIHOS Reference Data Library, a project-specific variation of it, or another information standard. RDX focuses on extraction. It combines AI and OCR to extract specific engineering information from documents and drawings, including metadata and tag relationships. For example, RDX can read key attributes from a coversheet or drawing decal. That information can then be compared with a Master Document Register or Master Tag Register from the system of record using RDR, supporting information quality checks before handover. RDR focuses on transformation. Once configured with the required properties, mappings and rules, it can take an information register submitted by an external party and transform it into the Principal’s target format. Its built-in intelligence can also help simplify the mapping process. Together, the applications support the work between receiving engineering information and preparing it for handover in the required form. Lately, I’ve been noticing a shift in how I approach my internship at Rihal. A month ago, I was mostly focused on understanding the environment and completing the tasks given to me. Now, I find myself looking beyond the task itself, exploring different solutions and tools, running POCs, attending demos, coordinating with external teams, following up, and bringing what I find back to my team for discussion. A small listing with a pretty big meaning… Rihal Data eXtract (RDX) and Rihal Data Refine (RDR) are now officially listed on the CFIHOS Software Conformance Database! But why does that matter? CFIHOS is an international framework used across the capital projects industry to standardise how engineering information is structured and exchanged between contractors, suppliers and operators. Its software conformance process gives the industry a way to identify tools designed to work with that framework. RDX and RDR were built to do exactly that kind of work: extracting, validating and transforming engineering information, and preparing it for reliable handover. Their listing puts technology built by Rihal in Oman on an international industry platform, visible to engineering organisations looking for CFIHOS-aligned solutions. We made the list.
