It was very relaxed, a great atmosphere. We were mainly left to manage ourselves which meant we had freedom and learned to be responsible. I feel like I really matured while away. Really recommend

We booked the South Africa experience for our son. I was incredibly nervous about him going to SA, he is only 18 but it was so reassuring for us to know that there were staff available to support and assist him, should he need it. Thanks to Kate for all her help in booking the scheme. Our son has had a wonderful time, he has made memories to last a lifetime. Thanks for making this possible.

Found Oyster on the DofE approved provider list & signed our son up for the surf/conservation camp in Portugal. Slightly anxious about how solo travel would work but the website has lots of really comprehensive/useful information & checklists & we had a dedicated contact who kept us on track. Kate kept up regular comms with us throughout & was on hand with quick responses to queries. Our son said it was the best trip ever! Accommodation was great, location perfec, local staff really friendly & helpful. Really good orientation day at the beginning & a really good balance of independence & support. The surfing instruction was excellent & he really enjoyed the conservation work. Fantastic opportunity to have fun/be part of something worthwhile as well as make friends from all over the world. Despite being his first solo trip abroad we were reassured by the level of professionalism of Oyster & would definitely recommend/use again.

I have just completed a 2 week Marine Conservation Project in Lisbon, Portugal. It was amazing from start to finish. Katy who booked it for me helped and advised all the way through brilliantly and the staff at the project were great. Would highly recommend booking any gap year experiences or Duke of Edinburgh residentials through this company. Thank you, memories to last a lifetime, and now I can Scuba Dive!

I'm halfway through my 5th Bear Sanctuary experience as a volunteer with Oyster. 5 stars is not enough to describe how amazing this place continues to be. The flat in Brașov is the hub of your time here and is very comfortable with everything you need. The old city itself is as charming and laid back as I remember.

That first view of a bear at the sanctuary as you enter never ever gets old and is as special on the 5th occasion as it was the 1st.

I've absolutely loved being back in Romania at Libearty. Whether it's preparing food or painting fences, life is always better when there are bears watching you work!

I've saved the best for last though. The legend that is Răzvan, who will help you and guide you through your time here is incredible. His dedication to helping volunteers, not just at the sanctuary but making sure they enjoy their time in Brașov is exemplary.

I had an absolutely great time doing the Australian farm work program. I met some great people and ended up with a really good job on a cattle property in the outback for 3.5 months. An unparalleled experience which I wouldn’t have been able to have if it wasn’t for my agent Georgie who guided me through the application process. It was a pleasure to meet Georgie at the training farm and put a face to the name. As well as being a great agent, Georgie isn’t too bad at pool either! 10/10 experience and would highly recommend Oyster worldwide to anyone looking for work overseas. Thank you!

I did the Romania - Volunteer with Bears trip. I travelled solo.
Before the trip the information supplied by Oyster was useful and I frequently referred to it - actions needed, what to take, info re trip etc. Oyster also quickly, and helpfully answered the email queries I had, including re-arranging things when my flights changed.
In Romania the Oyster Representative was supportive, friendly and quick to resolve an issue that arose. He really upgraded the experience.
The bears were numerous and awe inspiring, the staff at the Sanctuary were friendly and lovely.
Brasov is a beautiful city, and felt very safe. Lots to see and do there.

Oyster ensured our son’s Canadian experience was the perfect combination of freedom, accountability, responsibility, fun, hard work and support. The interview process through to landing psychically on-the-ground ready to work was streamlined, transparent, honest and caring. We could not recommend Oyster as a company highly enough. It was the right choice for our son to experience independence with the professional guidance of the Oyster team.

I would 100% recommend the ski season in Whistler with Oyster if you are looking for an unforgettable experience away from home. Making friends was the easiest part of the experience as you travel with the Oyster team, giving yourself built-in friends for the rest of the season. Additionally, our rep Nicky and program director Sami organised monthly socials for us, so having a community and making friends is definitely not something you need to worry about! Overall, I had a fantastic season full of skiing, friendship and teaching the cutest kids how to ski. I would do it time and time again if I could, so be prepared to want to stay!!

I had great experience booking with Oyster worldwide. I have booked to go to Thailand to volunteer at an elephant sanctuary. I was nervous but Kate was very supportive and answered any questions I had. Which there was many.

I joined the Wildlife Conservation in South Africa, Port Elizabeth at 17 years old and had an amazing experience! The staff were all very helpful in settling you in and I met people from all over the world across different age groups and really bonded with everyone during my short stay there! Definitely something you can go do alone (like I did) or go with a friend!

My daughter arranged her Gold D of E Residential through Oyster, and they were brilliant. Communication was fab throughout, and the trip was a huge success! Great opportunities for young people!

Georgie, The Director of Operations has terrible customer service. She confirmed a meeting with me over WhatsApp, On the day of the meeting she asked if we could meet earlier, I confirmed and then she said she wasn’t available. Then she she wasn’t ready in time for our original time, did not give me any information on how to reach her on WhatsApp. She emails me 20 minutes after the meeting was supposed to start telling me she didn’t have WhatsApp, then called me and proceeded to question me as to why I couldn’t use a phone and had to use WhatsApp, and then hung up on me, after I tried explaining it, I called back only to be told by her Assistant that she wasn’t available. THEN Georgie emails me saying that because I was dismissive and confused as to what was going on after waiting over an hour for a meeting , she informed me that I was ineligible due to my response ( my responses being why am I being ran around all morning when we originally agreed on a time and method). She BLAMES ME for her inability to be present and available at the agreed time. I tried escalating my issue to the CEO only to be turned away again. ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. She does not respect your time or needs and believes that she is entitled to decide on your ability to impress your future employers. I have been in the service industry for over 10 years and never have I questioned my clients needs or not respected their time. This woman needs to get off her high horse and be more professional.

My 17 year old son had an amazing time in Ecuador! I was very nervous about him traveling alone, but all the directions and correspondence was amazing from start to finish. He loved the experience and is thinking about doing it again. I felt he was well taken care of, the directions were great and Kate Tipler my contact at Oyster was always very responsive and top of it. The person who picked him up at the airport was wonderful about sending me pics of him which I didn't expect and loved. He loved the experience of being there and met wonderful friends from around the world. Highly recommend!
