The worst buying experience I've ever had of purchasing a car. I was mislead from the start buying a Fiat 500 rockstar which when started to present faults had had 4 previous owners (car was only 5 years old) unbeknown to me until I received the log book through the post.
I had given motormatch a chance to rectify the problem but the issues with the car reoccurred so I lost confidence in the car and the staff at the Bolton branch. Long story short I returned said car to the Bolton branch for a full refund and would NOT recommend buying from them! AVOID AT ALL COSTS....

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Motor Match Crewe and would not purchase another car from them.

Within just 6,000 miles of purchasing my car, the gearbox failed. When the car was inspected, the garage found that bolts had previously not been fastened properly. These were issues that would have already been present when the car was sold to me. Eventually, the bolts became loose and shattered inside the gearbox, causing a hole and resulting in the gearbox failing.

I was left having to pay £1,400 for the repair. Motor Match eventually agreed to contribute £1,000 towards the cost, which still left me £400 out of pocket for a major issue that I feel should never have occurred in the first place.

Unfortunately, the problems didn’t end there. Since the gearbox repair, the car has not felt the same. The cruise control, which was an important feature to me because I regularly travel long distances, now only works occasionally. The stop-start system has stopped working altogether and the car drives differently. The Bluetooth is also extremely temperamental.

Motor Match have said that these additional issues are the responsibility of the garage that repaired the gearbox and clutch. However, that garage has advised me that these issues are not related to the gearbox or clutch work they carried out.

For the price I paid for this car, I never expected to experience so many problems within six months of ownership. Having a major gearbox failure within 6,000 miles, followed by multiple ongoing issues, has left me feeling very uncomfortable and disappointed with the car.

I appreciate that Motor Match eventually contributed towards the gearbox repair, but I have still been left £400 out of pocket and with a car that I no longer have confidence in.

I would strongly encourage anyone considering buying a car from Motor Match Crewe to do their own checks and be aware of my experience. Personally, after this experience, I would not buy from Motor Match again.

I also wish I read reviews for this place before buying my car as it seems to be a common problem that management just dismiss.
I was told I would not need to visit a garage for at least 6 months but 3 months after buying the car I broke down with a gearbox failure.

In July 2025 I purchased a 2016 Audi TT Quattro from Motor Match, Crewe, a part of the Swansway motor group. Prior to my purchase, Motor Match inspected and Issued a new MOT for the vehicle. On presentation for MOT in July 2026 the car was issued with a serious failure resulting from a defective modification of the vehicle’s exhaust system by removal of an original exhaust box section and replacement with a cheap aftermarket part. This modification occurred prior to the car being sold to me and is instantly obvious on visual inspection. As it would have been to the Motor Match mechanics who inspected and issued the car with an MOT prior to the sale to me. So either the mechanics who inspected the car were incompetent/negligent or the modification was knowingly concealed from me at the time of sale. Had I been informed of this, I would certainly have required it to be rectified before proceeding with the purchase. I have raised a complaint with Motor Match but this has been dismissed out of hand by Gareth Morris, Business Manager at Motor Match Crewe.

When I picked the vehicle up the tyre deflated on the way home, when it was repaired and we got home the parking sensors didn’t work, we were asked to take the car to the
Main dealership for repair, which I did . I took the receipt to motormatch / swansway for a refund and was told to send the receipt via email! 7 emails later no reply, no refund , no apology! Nothing. Disgusting & unprofessional. They are also running BYD next door!!! Beware

I recently bought a used car from Motor Match Chester and unfortunately had to trigger my Consumer Rights to return it due to multiple faults that appeared almost immediately. One of the major issues was a significant water leak, despite me specifically questioning the damp smell on the day of viewing and being told it had “never leaked.” This turned out not to be true.

My biggest disappointment wasn’t just the faults, but the way the situation was handled. The manager showed no empathy, and I was made to feel like an inconvenience rather than a customer with a genuine problem. Despite several requests for a call, all communication was pushed through email and passed between different people.

Some parts of the process were handled adequately, which is why this is a 2-star review. However, the lack of honesty, the poor management, and the fact that I received no genuine apology or explanation for selling a car with clear existing issues has left me extremely frustrated.

The company showed no appreciation for the stress and inconvenience this caused me. Because I part-exchanged my old vehicle, I am now left without a car, making it far more difficult to view alternatives. I also had to cover the cost and time of returning the faulty car myself.

Overall, a very disappointing experience that could have been handled far better with transparency, ownership, and basic customer care.
