𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 NBL's Public Affairs and Sustainability Manager, Franklin Angermund, delivered the keynote address at the opening of the The International University of Management (IUM) Cultural Festival in Windhoek, themed “Preserving Heritage, Celebrating Unity”. Speaking on the role of alcohol in cultural heritage and community life, he told festivalgoers and students that heritage is about culture, language, and tradition, and equally about preserving the talent, potential, and aspirations of the generation that will inherit the responsibility of building Namibia's future. The address focused on informed decision-making and responsible consumption, including the importance of alcohol-free workplaces where safety, performance and employee wellbeing are priorities. He also shared the latest Namibia Road Safety Forum data: up to 9 August 2026, road crashes are down 10%, injuries 6% and fatalities 10% compared with the same period in 2025. That progress reflects collective action between government, law enforcement, civil society, business, and the youth. NBL supported the festival, which ran from 27 to 30 August 2026, with non-alcoholic beverages. This is our Low. Slow. 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 - 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗮. In 2025, we completed our first full year of local wine and cider production at our Windhoek plant; a milestone year in the making. The results speak for themselves. Cider volumes grew by 60% in 2025, with Savanna and Hunter's leading the charge. Bringing production home meant better stock availability, tighter operational control, and faster response to demand. It's proof that local production means pride in what we make. When we control more of our value chain, we can respond faster to what Namibia wants to drink, while retaining more value in-country. 𝗡𝗕𝗟 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 NBL's Public Affairs and Sustainability Manager, Franklin Angermund, recently conducted a Responsible and Moderate Consumption training session with the NAMDOCK HR and Safety team in Walvis Bay. The session looked at alcohol-related incidents at work as safety, operational and employee-wellbeing issues, as well as disciplinary ones. It covered the effects of alcohol, zero tolerance while working or operating equipment, how to spot risk early, and the support available from managers, HR, counselling and wellness services. With NBL’s guidance, Namdock will build and roll-out a programme with stronger prevention measures, raising awareness that ensure employees get timeous support. This is our Low. Slow. No. mantra in practice in everyday life - knowing when to choose lower-alcohol options (Low), drink slowly and moderately (Slow), or choose alcohol-free alternatives with greater understanding that showing up to work is a safety risk. The event brought together health screenings, financial wellness advice, and road safety awareness for around 400 workers. Our Public Affairs and Sustainability Manager, Franklin Angermund, joined the outreach to speak on responsible consumption in the workplace, a message that matters most for the drivers and operators who keep our roads and industries running safely.
