𝐉𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩.    What if water utilities could not only see what is happening right now, but also anticipate what comes next?    Jordan’s water utilities are now exploring how AI can support forecasting, detect anomalies, and transform complex operational data into insights for better decision-making.     𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐖𝐄-𝐃𝐌𝐒*, 𝐉𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐈-𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫. It brings data from all water utilities together on one platform, making it easier to monitor operations, identify patterns and use data to support decisions.    Timing is especially important. Building on the experience gained through implementation at the Aqaba Water Company (AWC) and the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ), WE-DMS is now moving into its next phase. The system will be rolled out to Yarmouk Water (YW), Jordan Water Company "Miyahuna", and the Jordan Valley Authority (JVA).     One step in preparing for this rollout was a three-day technical workshop in Sweden hosted by ABB Automation, the platform's solution developers, and the consultancy Volt Automation, who is supporting the water utilities with the implementation of the platform. Here, AWC, Miyahuna, YW, WAJ and JVA joined the technical partners from Sweden to work with the platform and discuss how WE-DMS can be integrated into their operations. Jordan Fintech Festival 2026 starts today!! While Jordanian businesses and financial institutions connect with policy-makers and international partners, a new feature from Jordan Times highlights Germany and the Netherlands’ support for Jordan’s fintech ecosystem and the role financial innovation can play in expanding access to finance, supporting MSMEs and advancing green investment.   Over the past weeks, through #FinTechExplained, we have been unpacking many of the same themes now being discussed at the Festival, from digital finance and financial inclusion to green finance and AI integrations.   The article also highlights results from the previous commission of the Innovative Approaches for Financial Inclusion of MSMEs in Jordan (I-FIN) project:   29 financial products were developed or adapted. More than 7,700 MSMEs accessed innovative financial services worth €63.9 million. FINTECH, EXPLAINED: Green finance and the future of finance   In this edition of FinTech, Explained, we look at how green finance can support more sustainable and resilient economic activity.   Green finance can support investments in areas such as energy efficiency, cleaner technologies and the more sustainable use of resources. FINTECH, EXPLAINED: Who should benefit from financial innovation?   Financial innovation is not only about what new technology can do. Just as important is who is able to benefit from it.   From a development perspective, that means looking at whether financial services become more accessible and responsive to people and businesses, whether women have equal opportunities to participate, whether the right skills are in place, and whether innovation can support more sustainable economic activity.   For micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, this becomes very practical.   Digital financial solutions can create new ways to make and receive payments, interact with financial service providers and access services that respond more closely to business needs.   But innovation alone does not guarantee inclusion. How does the Government of Jordan move from digital transformation ambitions to tangible improved digital citizen services? Today, Jordan took a crucial step in that direction with the launch of IRTIQA, the National Framework for Digital Transformation Standards. H.E. Badrieh Al Balbisi, Minister of State for Public Sector Development, on behalf H.E. Sami Smeirat, Minister of Ministry of Digital Economy & Entrepreneurship H.E Samira Alzubi, Secretary General officially launched the framework, developed under the leadership of the Digital Transformation Unit at the Prime Ministry of Jordan رئاسة الوزراء – الأردن. H.E. Dr. Bertram von Moltke, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Jordan, attended the event alongside representatives of government institutions and partners.  IRTIQA (https://irtiqa.gov.jo/) provides a common national approach for government institutions to assess their digital maturity, identify gaps and drive continuous improvement.   IRTIQA concept and journey was presented in a very interactive approach by the DTU Director Salim Louis Salameh and the DTU Head of GRC, Sewar Shraideh. PARtner II is supporting the institutionalization and roll-out of IRTIQA in close cooperation with the Digital Transformation Unit and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship through technical support, capacity development and further development of the framework. It’s the small details that can make or break the evidence. From seizure to the laboratory, every step can make a difference. Through our EU-funded Technical Assistance to Support the Rule of Law project, in collaboration with specialists from the PSD Forensic Laboratories Department, GIZ Jordan delivered a training on laboratory basics and evidence integrity for 40 Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) officers. Through the training officers strengthened their skills in preventing contamination, safely handling hazardous substances, and correctly packaging, labeling, transporting and storing evidence. It was more than theory, through practical sessions participants were challenged to spot mistakes, identify risks, and put their knowledge into action contributing to Jordan’s continued efforts to combat drug-related crime and strengthen the criminal justice chain.
