this is such great feedback, tysm!! this is actually the longest game we've ever made so we are working on slowly expanding haha maybe we can include these things in a DLC if we ever make one!

thank you for the feedback!!
could you elaborate on how the story felt short? (and what moving parts?) we did want to keep this game short so i'm wondering if you meant "not enough content" short or "this felt rushed :(" short.
i also want to ask about why you think the game needs "more spice" and what you mean by spice -- do you mean like sex scenes for the sake of fanservice? generally i want to make this comment bc there are ppl who've said they wished the game had more of that, but i personally don't think a game needs to have that kind of spice to be good (though we do toe the line) and it makes me disappointed if that's what people took away from this, but i'm not sure if you meant some other kind (like the extremely toxic kind you usually see from the jam? if so yeah that is not our specialty LOL) so i want to probe your thoughts and see how we can do better while staying true to the kind of games we want to make
thank you for this detailed comment!! i'm glad you enjoyed :))
re ending 2, my take on the reason why mary becomes so "evil" is because her panic at harming hazel beforehand is similar to if a wolf harmed its prey, where she's scared that hazel would leave her but still wants her. once she becomes settled in the fact that hazel won't (can't) leave her, her true colors/wants show. she's tired from everyone leaving her and she's always always hungry, and here comes a perfect little hazel that claims she'll never leave mary
not much comment on what might've happened in ending 3 had the potion worked! but fun fact, we did consider hazel turning male and the two could live without villagers' suspicions, but that wouldn't really be yuri sooo
and yesss great catch on red riding hood & the wolf :D
i recommend playing the game again, or reading some comments below! there’s so much hidden in the writing that you probably didn’t realize upon first playthrough :) we don’t want to spell everything out as that’s not really fun, but as a hint, think about what the game revolves around (esp ending 3), and everything mary’s mentioned about her past!
if you enjoy more direct storytelling and reveals, i’d recommend you check out MIMCO here: https://cinnamew.itch.io/mimco though it’s not as polished
SPOILERS
the more you play the game and reread dialogue the more you will figure out your answer to that :) + i explained potion ending in a comment below, search for one that says "I found the potion ending a bit confusing" (in short she died) + yes + mary is cursed by the potion's side effects, she doesn't need to eat normal food (what does mary do every time hazel is eating? think about why hazel is hungry in the village sequence even though she lives w mary, etc. -- there's lotsss of little things hidden in the text) and in order to maintain herself she needs to eat parts of other humans, hence the hair etc
THANK YOU!! i can explain/summarize the potion ending below
(SPOILERS)
basically it's revealed that the potion is behind mary's curse, and since you've spent the entire game making the potion hazel takes it so she can be with mary forever and so that she can understand the pain mary goes through, but it fails because messing with potions is dangerous (and also it isn't a full moon). mary is still thankful though bc this is the first time someone's stuck with her and showed her love
hahaha yeah it changes the story a bit :p
(SPOILERS)
if you pick up the flower, it'll auto give it to adrianne in return for the pies (we're prob gonna change this to a choice in the future), and then when the duke breaks into mary's house there's a sequence where he pulls out the daffodil and reveals that adrianne was the one who told him about where hazel was
but i think the reason why she was hung was probably bc she wasn't as fearmongered as the others so she seemed suspicious/targeting her would instill more fear into ppl which the duke wants
hmm to be fair since everything domo is saying is from mimi's thoughts i guess that's a window in? i think the point is also that mimi should present as narcissistic (but you don't realize that until later) and basically says whatever she thinks. i sometimes like wondering what a character's thinking instead of knowing it, but i also find writing internal character struggle tougher since what i write feels more cringe to me sometimes :P
and yeah, the whole story & writing (6000+ words) was done in 72 hours, mostly by nii (who did all the art except minigame stuff) and myself (who did the rest of the art + almost all the programming) so :') many places we could've refined but i think it was pretty good for the time limit. lots of kudos to you though, i tend to lose motivation for longer projects haha
