Game Jam Summary
Welcome to 8 Days of Dev, the first Game Jam in a series of Game Jams hosted by the Voices of the Forgotten and Jewish in Gaming non profit organizations! This Game Jam is a Jewish Game Jam created in partnership with Yeshiva University's Game Design Community, but people of all races, religion and creeds are encouraged to join.
8 Days of Dev is a free educational Game Jam for those who are curious about game development. All are welcome, from complete beginners to experienced game developers already in the industry! To better facilitate that goal, Industry professionals of every field of development will be available as mentors and advisors to all Jam participants.
The Jam will begin with a day of development in person at Yeshiva University in New York, followed by a week of remote work hosted on the Jewish in Gaming Discord. The Jam will conclude with a daylong livestream on the Discord reviewing and showing off all the completed projects.

Game Jam Tips & Tricks
- Use some sort of source control to avoid losing progress
- Github is free and (relatively) easy to use
- Perforce is free for up to 5 users and easier to use
- Coordinate tasks with your team
- Keep the scale of your idea small and focused on a single idea or gameplay hook.
- A small game means a single player 5-10 minute experience (at most) with one gameplay loop or hook.
- Remember that a game jam is about making a small game in a short time so don't sweat the small stuff!
- The result of this Jam will most likely be rough and unpolished, but that's to be expected!
- If you have any questions or concerns, ASK! We are all here to help.
