HÅG Minu has been shortlisted in the Workplace design category of the Dezeen Awards 2026. Designed by ANDREAS ENGESVIK AS, HÅG Minu was developed for the growing overlap between domestic and professional space. More of the working day now happens in rooms that were never planned as offices, and those rooms still need proper ergonomic support. We reduced the chair's scale and mechanical complexity while keeping HÅG's ergonomic mechanism and movement principles at its core. The upholstered form takes its warmth from residential furniture, and the four-legged wheeled base suits a living space as well as an office. In 1987, Danish-born Thomas Sorensen founded Via Seating in Sparks, Nevada, launching the company's first chair, Linate - still part of the range today. Sorensen built the company around a category of his own invention: "execu-task" seating, built on the idea that an executive chair should carry real ergonomic engineering, not just the look of authority. That thinking shaped decades of product development, from Genie in 2013 to the Astro lounge chair in 2018, and most recently 4-UP in 2023, the first chair to offer a genuine sit-to-stand range rather than just a perch, and the first-ever Best of NeoCon Business Impact Award winner for an ergonomic desk chair. Every Via chair is tested in the brand's own ISO-accredited lab and backed by a 12-year warranty. This is the fourth in a series on the (now) 11 brands that make up Flokk, and the first to take the story to North America.

The unique shape of HÅG Capisco means distinctive fabrics really help the chair stand out. Its saddle seat and sculptural form, designed by Peter Opsvik in 1984, were built to invite movement rather than a single fixed posture; front-ways, back-ways, sideways, whatever the moment calls for. That same shape makes it a natural canvas for fabric, taking on a different character depending on what it's wearing. At Skøyen Designfestival AS, that meant Balloon, a new pattern by Norwegian textile designer Plesner Patterns. The design comes from a simple, analogue process: balloons dipped in paint and pressed onto a surface. Woven into a wool upholstery fabric by Innvik in Norway, that playfulness becomes something durable enough to sit on every day. HÅG Capisco designed by Peter Opsvik. - HÅG is a brand by Flokk.

2,923 parts. 52 suppliers. Two years. We're proud of that number, and even more proud of what sits behind it. That effort has extended EU Ecolabel coverage for HÅG to 47 chair models across 10 families. In 2024, HÅG received the first, to our knowledge, EU Ecolabel ever awarded to a task chair. Today, at Flokk, we have 9 task chair families totally certified within the HÅG brand alone. EU Ecolabel is a Type I label: independently verified, not self-declared. Every certified chair was mapped down to its smallest component and checked against the label's criteria. The long hours behind this project was carried out by a small but dedicated team: Edward Buzura, Product Environmental Certification Lead, Kenneth Knudsen, Senior Product Environmental Engineer, Atle Messel, Director Product Environmental Strategy, and external chemical expert Selma Louise Vinterset "No component was too small to ignore," says Edward. "Kenneth built the bills of materials, and colleagues across NPD, TPM, Procurement and Røros kept answering when I asked. I'm really proud of what we put together." Skøyen Designfestival AS brought a full house to Flokk's showroom over two days last week. Strong turnout for the talks, including Tor Opsvik from peter opsvik as exploring the Opsvik design philosophy, and our joint talk with Jotun on the power of colour in a room. Plenty of attention also on Balloon, the new fabric from Plesner Patterns, shown on HÅG Capisco and Offecct Font. It was so great to share our space with, Heymat, Jotun, Plesner Patterns and Tradinno AS.

In 1872, Albert Stoll I opened two factories on either side of the Swiss-German border, making bentwood chairs for cafés and hotels. In 1937, the business split between two branches of the family. The Koblenz factory passed to 26-year-old Albert Stoll III, who renamed it Giroflex in 1948 and took it international. In 1962, Giroflex brought in ergonomist Dr. Etienne Grandjean, who built an "ideal seating" machine to study what a chair should actually do for the body. That research led to the Syntop in 1982, one of the world's first synchro-motion swivel chairs, and to a design partnership with Paolo Fancelli that has shaped the brand ever since, from the giroflex 64 to the giroflex 313. In 2022, marking 150 years, Giroflex released a limited run of 150 wooden chairs, built on the same synchro-motion technology inside every chair the brand makes today. At Skøyen Designfestival AS, Flokk's Oslo HQ will host the launch of Balloon, a new fabric from designer Kiki Plesner. The design is made through an analogue process: balloons pressed into paint and lifted onto fabric. It will be shown alongside other Plesner Patterns designs, including on HÅG Capisco and the recently launched OFFECCT Font meeting chair. Plesner will also host a talk in the showroom on Friday at 1pm on developing fabric patterns from everyday observation and nature, open to all festival attendees.
