📈 India’s advertising market is heading towards a defining moment. By 2026, it is projected to cross Rs 2 lakh crore, growing at 9.7%, according to the WPP / This Year Next Year(TYNY) report. Key shifts to watch: 🛍️ Retail media remains the standout performer—expected to grow 25% to Rs 30,360 crore, capturing 15% of total ad spend. 📱Digital dominance: The “Other Digital” segment—driven by social platforms, short-form video and emerging formats like micro-dramas—is projected to reach Rs 71,710 crore, accounting for 35.5% of India’s ad revenue. 📰 Print shows resilience: Defying global trends, newspaper advertising in India is forecast to grow 4.5% in 2026. 📺 Television finds a new growth engine: While linear TV declines, the overall TV category is expected to return to growth, powered by Connected Television and ad-supported streaming. 🍿 Cinema rebounds: Advertising revenues are set to finally surpass pre-pandemic levels. 🏙️ Out-of-Home advertising continues its momentum, growing around 8.6%, aided by infrastructure expansion and digital Out-of-Home adoption. 🛒 Why retail media matters: It enables brands to advertise directly on a retailer’s e-commerce platforms—such as websites and apps—to reach shoppers at the point of purchase. fear of undercutting? I didn’t realise there was anything left to cut. We are already in the era of 2 lakh rupees retainers and 5 lakh rupees TVCs. The industry was sold out many years ago by agency heads who cared only about their personal share of the revenue and didnt care about the bottom line or how undercutting would impact the next generation of advertising professionals. I refuse to put the blame on procurement teams who were just doing their jobs.

Is CPV still your benchmark for Influencer Marketing? Then you should read this. A lot of marketers still benchmark influencer campaigns purely on CPV. The problem? No one—not even the influencer—can fully control views. Views depend on: The algorithm Time of posting Content format Platform push Audience behaviour that week Even competing trends that day If your only KPI is reach, CPV makes sense. But influencer marketing is often about awareness, consideration, and buzz — not just passive views. We’ve executed 1000+ campaigns over the years. One clear learning: CPV alone is a weak benchmark. For example: • One reel delivered a CPV of ₹1.6 (higher than others) but had the highest CPE (31.3) in the campaign — and sparked strong purchase intent in comments. https://lnkd.in/ghfSF4Sd • Another post had a higher CPV (₹0.5 vs campaign avg ₹0.2), but delivered 9.45% engagement — far superior in driving conversation and value. https://lnkd.in/g_2tANjZ If we judged purely on CPV, we would have called the wrong winner. The real question isn’t “What was the CPV?” It’s “What behaviour did this create?” Long-term brand building needs different KPIs than short-term reach bursts. Define the objective first. Then define the metric. As agencies, our job isn’t just to optimise cost. It’s to align KPIs with what the brand actually wants to build.
