At the Kolkata Metro UG-1 Package, we successfully completed the 1.75 km twin tunnel drive between Khidderpore and Victoria, marking a significant milestone in the city's underground metro development.     With India-manufactured Herrenknecht Tunnel Boring Machines Durga and Divya deployed by L&T, the team navigated the spatial and geological complexities of tunnelling through a dense metropolitan environment, with safety and quality at the centre of execution. Powering progress across land and water: Excellence at NTPC Ramagundam We are proud to spotlight a significant achievement in solar infrastructure at the NTPC Ramagundam premises, where our Renewables IC team has successfully completed a large-scale solar PV EPC project at NTPC Ramagundam Super Thermal Power Station. Spanning nearly 400 acres, this landmark project brings together ground-mounted and floating solar installations at a remarkable scale, reflecting the engineering complexity and execution excellence behind its delivery. Resting on 66,000+ MMS foundations and 11,000 metric tonnes of structural steel, the installation integrates 440,000 solar modules across 12 ground-mounted blocks and 9 floating arrays, all interconnected by a 750 km cabling network. Marking a technological milestone, the project also introduces the pioneering deployment of thin-film solar PV modules alongside traditional panels. Delivering a project of this magnitude required managing multiple work fronts across both terrestrial and floating solar installations while maintaining stringent quality benchmarks. The team established clear quality objectives aligned with NTPC’s requirements from the early planning stages and carried that discipline through every phase of execution, from large-scale piling and foundation works to electrical installations, testing, and commissioning. What makes this achievement particularly significant is the successful integration of ground-mounted and floating solar technologies within a single project ecosystem. Executing these diverse renewable energy solutions simultaneously called for specialised engineering expertise, robust construction methodologies, and seamless collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. The project stands as a testament to our capability to deliver complex renewable energy infrastructure at scale while meeting stringent client requirements. As part of the Rajiv Gandhi Lift Canal Phase III Project, our Water & Effluent Treatment team had just eight hours to complete the RCC precast section erection works beneath a curved railway track near Phalodi. The conditions made the task even more demanding, hard rock below the tracks, a curved alignment that ruled out conventional methods, and railway traffic that had to resume within the scheduled block. More than 80 days went into planning, risk assessment and simulations before the team moved into execution. The crossing was completed within the 8-hour window. It is one critical section of the larger Jaisalmer–Jodhpur water pipeline project, being executed to cater to the drinking water needs of nearly 7.6 million people across Jodhpur and nearby districts.
