Even as major US indices are trading at or close to their all-time highs, some India-listed ETFs tracking them have fallen sharply. The reason is the premium at which some of these ETFs were trading compared to their Net Asset Value (NAV). When investing in ETFs, there are two prices to watch: the market price on the exchange and the iNAV (Indicative Net Asset Value), which reflects the value of the ETF’s underlying holdings. Since ETFs trade on exchanges, their market price can move away from the iNAV because of demand and supply. An ETF can therefore trade at a premium or discount to its underlying value. This is happening with some international ETFs in India, where overseas investment limits have restricted AMCs from creating fresh ETF units. With limited supply and high demand, some of these ETFs have been trading well above their iNAV. Before buying an ETF, it’s worth checking how its market price compares with its iNAV. On Kite, we show a nudge in the order window when an ETF is trading at a premium or discount to its iNAV, so you can see the difference before placing an order.

People need to be able to close an account as easily as they open one, if not easier. Making it easy to open an account but impossible to close one is the oldest dark pattern in the book. I think we are one of the few apps where the account closure option is clearly visible. We (Zerodha) close around 15,000 to 20,000 accounts every month for reasons ranging from company policies and trading losses to moving to another broker. It might sound counterintuitive, but allowing customers to close their accounts easily is the mark of a good business.

We tend to think scams are easy to spot because something will look obviously fake. Often, it’s the opposite. Scammers can use a real company’s name, copy its website or app, talk about an actual product, and even give you information that’s partly correct. That little bit of truth is what makes the scam believable. So instead of asking whether something looks genuine, verify it yourself. If someone claiming to be from Zerodha contacts you, don’t use the links, phone numbers, apps, or contact details they send you. You can check information about Zerodha and our products here: - support.zerodha.com: for product features, processes, and FAQs. - zerodha.com/bulletin: for important updates You can also verify whether a call or email is actually from Zerodha: - Verify calls: https://lnkd.in/dGKBskbR - Verify emails: https://lnkd.in/dHFPaykP Zerodha will never give you stock tips or advice, ask for your password or OTP, or ask you to transfer money to a personal or unknown bank account. We’ve put together a simple checklist you can use to stay safe from scams.
