We have received an overwhelming response to the Dublin roles (Thank you!! :) ) and are now continuing our search for Newcastle, Winnersh and Manchester offices. This role is one that demands curiosity, a passion for learning on the job and being managed to build up a skillset that will enable the team member to confidently test Sage products and services. As part of the Graduate Tester role, the team member must adhere to the team processes and test standards already in place and develop an appreciation and understanding of test practices and principles. The Graduate Tester will work closely with the delivery team to accurately record and communicate issues found during test phases and time spent on tasks during the project. Melvina Bhaskar reacted on thisMelvina Bhaskar reacted on thisJune marks my 5-year anniversary with SportsMed—my longest professional chapter and one of the most rewarding journeys of my career. When I joined SportsMed, I came in with a simple goal: to grow professionally and become the best clinician and leader I could be. I started as a Staff Physical Therapist, but even without a formal leadership title, I sought opportunities to contribute beyond patient care. I became involved in daily operations and worked closely with my Clinical Director, eager to learn and help wherever I could. Eight months later, I was given the opportunity to become a Clinical Director and launch a new office. It was a challenge I embraced wholeheartedly. I've always envisioned leading a team built on collaboration, trust, and excellence, and I was incredibly proud of what our team accomplished during that first year. At that point, I thought I had reached the leadership role I had always wanted and was content with where I was. Then came an opportunity I never expected—a Regional Director position. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be considered for such a role. I was fortunate to be seen, trusted, and recognized. One of the greatest lessons I've learned is that your work speaks long before you do. I am deeply grateful for the people who advocated for me, believed in me, and spoke positively about my work even when I wasn't in the room. SportsMed has provided me with countless opportunities for growth—through both successes and challenges. The difficult moments taught me resilience, humility, and adaptability. They helped shape who I am today: a practicing Physical Therapist, a visionary leader, and someone who strives to create an inclusive culture where people feel supported, empowered, and inspired to grow. To my mentors, colleagues, teams, and leaders—thank you for being part of this journey. The past five years have been incredible, and I'm excited for what lies ahead. Melvina Bhaskar liked thisMelvina Bhaskar liked thisA little after Women’s Day, but a recent book club conversation stayed with me. Some of the strongest mentors and sponsors in my journey have been women — truly. And at times, some of the more complex dynamics too. Both have been part of the experience. We touched on what research often refers to as the “Queen Bee phenomenon” — not as a label, but as a reflection of how behaviour can be shaped by bias, underrepresentation, and perceived scarcity at senior levels. That perspective mattered to me. Because it shifts the lens — from individuals to the systems and pressures we’re all navigating. And in my own journey, what stands out far more strongly is this: The women who chose to support, sponsor, and create space have had a disproportionate impact on my growth. I’m deeply grateful for that. Leadership, then, is a choice — especially in environments that are still evolving. To create space. To support with intent. And to lead with the awareness that we are all, in different ways, shaped by the same system — and can choose to make it better for those who come after us. Calling everything a bug 🐛 🔎 First: What’s the real difference? Bug → The system is not behaving as per defined requirements. Change Request (CR) → The system works as designed, but the design/requirement needs to change. Requirement Gap → The requirement was unclear, incomplete, or evolving. In unstable or early-stage products, these lines blur because: Requirements keep changing Documentation is incomplete Behavior is inconsistent Stakeholders “expected” something but never documented it --- ⚠️ Why calling everything a bug is risky 1. It inflates defect metrics 📊 2. Devs get defensive (“It’s working as coded!”) 3. Product looks lower quality than it actually is 4. Root cause (requirement clarity) gets ignored Especially in early builds, many “bugs” are actually: Undefined behaviors Late clarifications Business logic updates --- 🧠 Smart QA Framing (Especially for Unstable Products) Instead of immediately tagging as Bug, try: “Behavior deviates from expected user flow – requirement clarification needed.” “Current implementation does not match business expectation.” “Functionality enhancement required.” This keeps it neutral and professional. --- 🎯 A Practical QA Strategy (You’ll appreciate this as a QA engineer 😉) When logging: 1. Ask: Was this behavior documented? Is there a signed-off requirement? Is this regression from earlier agreed behavior? 2. If NO documentation → Log as: Requirement Clarification Functional Gap Product Decision Required 3. If documented and wrong → That’s a proper Bug. --- 🏗 In Unstable Products Specifically Early-stage products = high ambiguity. It’s often smarter to: Use a separate issue type like “Observation” Or tag with Needs Product Review Or use severity carefully (don’t over-sev) This keeps your defect dashboard honest. --- 💬 What You Can Say in Meetings If someone argues: > “This is not a bug.” You can respond calmly: > “It doesn’t align with current user expectations. If it’s intentional, we should update the requirement.” That shifts it from blame → alignment. --- 🔥 Real Talk In unstable products: 40% are real bugs 40% are evolving requirements 20% are misunderstandings
