My experience with them is very horrible at all. They are not reliable,
Had a claim with tescos, they refused which is not a problem, then they canceled my policy for an undeclared modification, red brakes, this is a factory option on my car, absolutely disgusting treatment, even with a factory option list proving there is no modification, they've caused me severe hardship forcing me off the road, the case is with the financial ombudsman now, even with help from financial ombudsman tescos are still dragging the case out,I would highly recommend avoiding this company
The way Tesco have handled our car insurance claim is disgraceful.
They have dragged out the process because my renewal is now due and with an open case any other quotes have rocketed even Tesco have cashed in upping my renewal by £200.
If your advisors can’t prove a hit & run then you’re in the wrong job.
Stolen vehicle (allegedly)
Left scene of crime keys in ignition
Police arrived with dogs
Witness to accident
Tesco and your underwriting team an absolute disgrace
My (now late) Mum had pet insurance with Tesco. Her cat is 14 years old. The only claim she made was earlier in 2026 when the vet wanted to carry out a blood test. The cat is undergoing no continued treatment or check-ups.
The premium for 2025-6 was £233.
The renewal price quoted for 2026-7 saw a rise of 100% to £466.
At the time, Mum was nearly 90-years old, on a State pension, and her cat was her sole companion.
I was furious that a huge organisation was willing to try and blatantly rip off an elderly lady with a 100% increase in cost. I called them and the agent offered a price in the high £300s. I can't recall the exact price as I was still seeing red. I informed them that the insurance would be cancelled and I wanted to open a complaint for what I regarded as nothing more than blatant corporate greed.
The letter sent to my Mum, who had passed away in the interim, was little more than a standard rebuff template with the cat's name inserted. The crux of the letter was "Well, your Mum should have read the Ts & Cs of the policy because it clearly states that premiums will rise." There was no mention at all of the figures involved nor percentage increase and reasoned justification for it.
Shortly before she passed, I had in fact arranged replacement insurance with Sainsbury's. I had to declare that the cat had undergone a blood test earlier in the year and was aware that they would contact the surgery to check her records. Fine by me as there was nothing to hide. The result was a policy cost of £219. Their checking process saw that as a fair price but Tesco wanted £466.
This kind of greed leads to unnecessary euthanasia of pets or abandonment. It's as simple as that. Having volunteered for an animal charity in the past and still being involved with one, I see what happens when pets are abandoned. It breaks my heart. And if the pet isn't abandoned or put to sleep, how many people out there are simply being ripped off by Tesco - especially the elderly/vulnerable who have nobody to step in and say "No, that's just obscene. Leave that with me."
Still, so long as Tesco's management get their fat salaries and bonuses and shareholders get their dividends, it's all OK eh. "Every little helps," right? Reducing my 90-year old Mum to tears means nothing.
Shame on you.
Your customer service agent Anthony for car insurance was brilliant!
Helped me with my query very quickly and was understanding. Helped told me I would get an email to rate his service but never did. I hope this gets back to him

Tesco use new-law solicitors. Dodgy lying company. 3 yrs for a no fault claim, & no further on. Sending me to 2 scam doctors, who didn’t even examine me. New-law. Solicitors, check their 1star reviews on trustpilot. Then wanting to charge me £2,000 for nothing. They don’t answer questions when u finally get through, over 50 phone calls & emails, with no response. Then Tesco say contact our team, as if they will help you, but their just as useless with no reply. AVOID AT ALL COST. Tesco will probably do same on here. But trust me, they don’t help. Use another car insurance, as Tesco useless.

Absolutely terrible. Its 2 weeks since my car accident and my damaged car is still on my drive awaiting collection. Despite numerous phone calls to Tesco on hold for literally hours and them then passing me on to their partner company, Fmg Connect who never answer the phone, nobody has been able to tell me anything at all. Finally today I was supposed to have my car collected around 3pm -still waiting now at 5pm. Also have no update on when I can expect a courtesy car as they cannot tell me this until my damaged car is on site. Will never ever use or recommend Tesco insurance ever again.

Absolutely appalling company for travel insurance. Never again will I obtain any form of insurance through Tesco. I already have a policy, call to give an update about one of my children - they had an appointment with a consultant but no tests being done, no diagnosis and never will be a diagnosis. Just an appointment in 3 months time (after I travel) to weigh my child, for lifestyle reasons and not medical. The agent I got insisted she must put this through to underwriters. After a lot of chasing I obtain a medical letter from the hospital stating what I had told the agent to start with. Called back in and another agent said should never have gone to underwriter as no diagnosis or tests, it should have simply been a note on system to say appointment took place. Great, you would think - all sorted and daughter still insured! WRONG!!! They call back the next day about my complaint and tell me underwriter says there is a restriction on my policy that anything related to weight will not be covered, even though I have email from manager stating my policy remained the same as first agent messed up! And not to mention there is no diagnosis so what exactly are they basing this on, do they restrict all customers who have a BMI over 25?!
Agent said she would call underwriter and call me straight back, no phone call so I call them and get told to stop calling as they will call me….. 24 hours later still waiting and we travel in the very near future. Two complaints logged and still don’t care. So off to the ombudsman I go. I will take this to the top as the way I have been treated is truly awful.
DON’T EVER USE TESCO for travel insurance - they are very incompetent!
Please don’t ask me to call your call centre as the majority of your staff don’t care, gloat over your stress and don’t resolve the issues!

Auto renewal on a SORN car. Tried to stop it online and just sent around in circles. Phoned them and they still ask if I’m sure I want to cancel the renewal of a SORNed vehicle. It’s like dealing with a 3rd world cowboy company

Well let me just start by saying that any positive reviews listed on relating car insurance claim process must be fake. Whole process dealing with Tesco has been a nightmare. Staff are next to useless, they pass you through to third party claim handler companies, again useless, third party hire car companies are again useless, all treat you with total contempt, all near impossible to contact or call, all demand the same information, so you find yourself having to provide the same proof of ID and documents time and time again. Painful experience from beginning to end. Will do anything pay you the very least for your damaged vehicle. Scammers

After an accident involving hitting a deer, I went onto Tesco online to see how to make the claim. The whole claim was completed on line without the need to speak to anyone by phone. By the next day, a hire car had been arranged and the car had been allocated to Rapid Repair Network to repair the damage.
RRN were excellent, and all the works were completed in my own garage, I would thoroughly recommend them and Tesco Car Insurance.

I will not go anywhere else for pet insurance. I love Tesco Pet insurance they are absolutely wonderful. I have insured 7 cats with them over a period of 16 years and they have been impeccable every single time. I have lost 3 cats whilst insured with them and their compassion has been on point with every single loss. I have also made my fair share of claims with them over the years as well and not one of them has been a hassle. I’ve even asked them to extend a policy by 2 days as I’m moving country and they’ve got that covered for me as well. Absolutely brilliant service every single time.

I paid £1,900 for an annual car insurance policy on the clear understanding that my 5 years’ No Claims Discount could be added once I provided the certificate, and I would be refunded the difference.
I provided the evidence, only to be told that 5 years’ no claims reduced my £1,900 premium by just £8 — less than 1%. That figure is clearly questionable.
Worse still, my No Claims Discount was never actually added to the policy, and four months later the issue still hadn’t been resolved.
After months of poor service, I was offered £25 compensation and told the £50 cancellation fee would be waived if I cancelled.
So I did.
I have now received a refund of around £1,300 and taken out alternative insurance for approximately £700.
Instead of simply resolving a straightforward issue and retaining a customer who had paid £1,900, they have refunded £1,300, lost the customer entirely, and I now have alternative cover for £700.
The issue wasn’t £8. It was the fact that £8 was supposedly the correct adjustment for 5 years’ no claims, that the discount was never properly applied, and that nobody managed to resolve it in four months.
A baffling way to operate a business and genuinely awful customer service.

An insult and absolute rip off. Home insurance renewal quote increase from £400 to £850. Do they think because I'm over 80 I must be losing it and expect me to pay without question? As far as I'm concerned Tesco can take my renewal quote and shove it where the sun don't shine and they can do the same with my clubcard.

I am really impressed with Tesco Car Insurance. I pranged my car yesterday evening at midnight. I had a courtesy car delivered to me at 13.00 and my car booked for collection and repair on Monday ( it's Friday today). The online portal was easy and quick and both the car hire company and the approved garage have been ultra efficient. I was anxious and upset yesterday at this time, but now just 24 hours later I'm sorted. I realise I sound like an advert, but I can't put it any way. I only changed to Tesco a few months ago. It offered a better deal than my previous insurers and have certainly offered a better service.

Tesco Pet insurance is a rip off!!….. when the dog is a puppy the payments start at around £30 then as they get older the amount goes up, my Jack Russell (5.6 kgs) is now 12 years old and they’ve put it up to £99 per month! They don’t cover dental care, medical conditions have a limit of £4000 for life, so if you make a claim for a joint injury it comes out of the £4000 so you have less to claim later in life.
I’m paying a £1000 per year when the most expensive operation she had was £980.
I have now cancelled my pet insurance with them and will now save the monthly payments to self insurance!
All about making money instead of caring for pets, it’s shameful.
My car insurance (different company) is £280 per year so why does my dogs insurance cost £1000 per year!

Travel Insurance Shambles, paid £193.97 yesterday for Travel insurance received no documentation, if and when you can get through to the call centre greeted by a total and complete lack of any urgency or empathy , it would appear they had a technical issue and you may or may not get your documents in the next 24 to 48 hours, operatives appear to have no empowerment whatsoever, made to feel a nuisance, clearly a cost cutting exercise, next step will be complete AI procedure. With the greatest of respect can I suggest Tesco senior management try ringing this call centre.
Dread to think what would happen if we have to make a claim.
Never Again

Easy and so straightforward. I have my home insurance and pet insurance with them for the second year now. Easy website and access to anything you need to see.

Claim submitted 6 weeks ago for a stolen car. Little or no correspondence and still no updates on when I'm likely to receive any sort of pay-out. I have however had an email for the stolen car renewal which is £1000 more than last year! Terrible customer service
