GetAround is a scummy company
GetAround is a scummy company. January 3 my car was totaled by a renter, GetAround processed the claim Quickly yet they never paid me out and say they did on the app. When I contacted all the companies involved ( GetAround, CoPart, Mobilitas Insurance of Arizona ) GetAround Ignored me, saying they would look into this 3 times and never once messaged me. CoPart says GetAround was already paid out for the claim. Mobilitas completely ignores their claimants. So im out 13k and a vehicle. Its been a full year since this happened. Then they exit scammed to Europe which is quite lovely isnt it? Being a host is going to be a double edged sword with GetAround.

Absolutely terrible experience with Getaround, avoid this platform.
We rented a car for the weekend of August 8–9 and, despite paying for insurance/coverage, we were left completely on our own when the car turned out to have serious engine problems. The situation became extremely dangerous on the motorway, and the vehicle should never have been rented out in the first place.
What makes this even worse is that Getaround’s insurance/coverage was completely useless when we actually needed it. We spent days being passed from one department to another, with nobody taking responsibility or providing a proper solution. We are still fighting to get our money back.
The owner appears to have known about the car’s problems, yet somehow we are the ones left paying for the consequences (despite paying for the booking and additional insurance).
Honestly, the whole experience felt like a complete scam. If you expect professional service and actual protection when something goes wrong, do not rent through Getaround. Go to Sunny Cars instead. We booked with them the following weekend, and the difference was enormous: everything was clearly explained, no hidden information, transparent conditions, and genuinely good service.

Good service for most of the cities
Depending on the city, you have more alternatives but in general the service and communication worked properly, and the complementary services offered are competitive, cars are in good conditions but sometimes prices are a bit more expensive than the traditional renting vehicles, they could check on that as well to increase the usage of the service

This company doesn’t check car owners/cars
This company doesn’t check properly car owners on how the car state is prior to rental, neither doesn’t take responsibility for it. It doesn’t check on car owners issues history, etc. we have been charged twice now by this company very unfairly and they refuse to provide full evidence. I will stay away from this”cheap” rental site, it ended up being very expensive…
