Brilliant Service
After so many failed GP apt making an apt with Doctor Care Anywhere was the best thing I did. I was connected to a lovely caring Doctor who listened to my symptoms and sent an urgent ref straight away. Would always feel I could contact them again in the future.

Referred back to the NHS twice (on two independent occurrences) - complete waste of time
I have used this virtual GP service twice through my AXA work health insurance, for two completely unrelated issues, and on both occasions the outcome was essentially the same: I was told to contact my NHS GP instead.
I appreciate that virtual GP services will have limitations, but if they are unable to deal with relatively routine requests, arrange basic investigations, or provide an appropriate referral pathway, it is difficult to understand what practical purpose the service is supposed to serve.
After two appointments, for two different reasons, I have received no meaningful private healthcare support and have simply been redirected back to the NHS both times. That rather defeats the point of having access to a private GP service through health insurance.
Would have given zero stars if I could.

Excellent, prompt alternative to NHS GP consultation.
Video call was good quality, which makes communication a lot easier.
The doctor was a good listener (always important) and very sympathetic. He was also very thorough with his tests for various possible sources of the problem, which was confidence-giving.
In short, I had a good degree of confidence that the correct course was being taken with an agreed follow-up plan.
I’d gladly use this service again especially as I was able to obtain a same-day appointment instead of waiting days to weeks for an NHS appointment.

A very positive experience.
For the first time in a long time I felt listened to and understood. The clinician, Dr Wilkings, was excellent; supportive and helpful, and made suggestions moving forward. Consultation notes were forwarded to me right after the appointment with links to questionnaires. The appointment was very easy to book and the clinician was on time. A very positive experience!

Fast and Friendly Help with an Open Referral
I was waiting an unexplainedly long time to get a simple "Open Referral" from my NHS GP and so, after a bit of research, found that my work Health Cover with AXA gave me the option of using the "Doctor Care Anywhere" service. TBH, the process could not have been easier: from making my first enquiry to registering for the service and then talking to a real doctor via a video link took about 60 minutes! I had my OR letter about 15 mins after my interview and they even forwarded it to my NHS app for future reference. An excellent service that I would happily recommend.

Based on my experience
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this organisation. I found the communication to be poor and lacking in transparency during an extremely difficult time for my family.
I was concerned that significant decisions affecting my father’s affairs proceeded without meaningful communication with all close family members, leaving some of us excluded from the process. In my view, organisations working with vulnerable people should prioritise openness, fairness and clear communication with everyone who has a legitimate interest.
This experience added unnecessary stress to an already challenging situation. I hope the organisation reflects on its communication practices and improves its approach for other families.

I needed an appointment urgently and as soon as i opened the app there was an appointment in 10 minutes!! Within the hour I had a referral letter ready to see a consultant. The doctor was kind understanding and considerate and recognised the urgency of my referral.

Really poor behaviour from one of their…
Really poor behaviour from one of their “clinicians” (ie someone who isn’t even a doctor). When I made a complaint about it instead of doing the right thing and apologising to me they said they “couldn’t offer me ongoing care” and removed me from the service that I had paid for.
I hadn’t asked for ongoing care -quite simple what had has asked for actually - even if they could not trace my underlying condition there was no need to remove me from regular common GP appointments- the insurance company actually had to compensate me as a result of their poor performance. Can’t imagine they will keep getting contracts with insurance companies if they carry on like that.
Not to mention that if they punish people who dare to complain they won’t have many customers either.
Why they now want more details after I made the complaint and then ignored me I don’t know - the damage is done and I won’t be removing the review either.
I assume they don’t like being pulled up on their behaviour on social media and want to come up with an excuse or just lie about it. I’ll update when they come back with whatever bull story they come up with.
