Easy way to get too small amounts of money for good books.
The app is pretty easy to use, but the prices they give you are very low. And when your package arrives with them, it takes two weeks for them to check them and let you know anything about payment. Still waiting for that.
I sold some books to them and one of the few books that would give me 3 euros, is suddenly "damaged", so they don't accept it and won't pay for it. But they do keep it, and will sell it. Ridiculous. The books were in great condition before shipping, I always take care of them. They were packed carefully. And this one book, was one I really loved, so I made sure it was in a good condition while I had it.
Where is the proof, it was damaged? Because it was fine before they got to you.

In practice, we find that customers sometimes assess the condition of their books slightly differently from our quality control team. We apply clear and strict criteria when determining whether a book is suitable for resale, and even minor damage, including damage that may have occurred during transport, can result in a rejection.
To ensure transparency, our team documents all rejections valued at more than €5 with clear photos showing the condition in which the book was received.
If you contact our customer service team, we will be happy to send you the photographic evidence of the damaged book, if available, and provide you with an immediate update on the processing of your payment.

I sent 2 packages of perfect books to boekenbalie, to be honest I did not read every sentence of the terms and conditions, if I would I would have never sent them the packages. So this is more of be ware!! They can tale up to 6 weeks to review your package. Both package they seleceted 2 or 3 books which they declined, and I am sure that all of the books were brand new, therefor i think its a scam, you cant get the books back and they told me they destroy the books. These are perfectly good books. The price in general they give you is also very low, but that you know in advance. I suggest read the rules very well, I would never engage with them again.

It’s hilarious how rigidly you hide behind terms and conditions until I mention the 6-week processing estimate your agent quoted me over the phone—at which point you conveniently declare rules don't take that long. You cannot be a dogmatic rule-enforcer only when it favors your bottom line.
Keep the small change. I wanted to give these books a second life, but you made the entire process miserable. I’m updating this review as a cautionary tale for enthusiastic sellers: read every line of their fine print, because with Boekenbalie, rigid rules are the only product they consistently deliver."

Thank you for sharing your experience. We do agree that it is always a good idea to read the terms and conditions carefully before sending books to us. By sending in a package, you agree to the rules and conditions that apply to our service. We try to be as clear as possible about these rules both on our website and in the app, including which books we are able to accept.
There are, however, a few things in your review that we would like to clarify. First of all, it is not correct that it can take up to six weeks for us to process a package. Under normal circumstances, packages are processed within one week, and our terms and conditions state that processing can take up to three weeks. At the moment, we unfortunately have a significant backlog due to the large number of books coming in, which means processing is taking longer than usual. According to our records, both of your packages were processed within two weeks.
Unfortunately, a number of books from both shipments were rejected. We have already discussed the reasons for this with you by email, so we won't go into that discussion again here. It is also worth mentioning that the rejected books were not valued above €5. If they had been, you would have received a photo showing the reason for rejection as part of our process.
We are sorry that you have interpreted this as a scam. That is certainly not our intention, and we do not agree with that characterization. We are transparent in advance, both in the app and on our website, about the types of books we accept and the conditions that apply.
One other point we would like to correct is that we did not say that we "destroy" your books. We recycle books that we cannot sell. Those are two very different things. This means we make sure the materials can still be used for another purpose, rather than simply throwing the books away. Unfortunately, books that do not meet our requirements cannot be resold by us.
We understand that our service may not be for everyone, and of course you are completely free to choose not to use our service again.
