**Fully paid car, failed delivery and weeks without a real solution**

I purchased and fully paid for a Tesla Model S Performance (XP48619) through AUTO1 and also paid for transport from Germany to Slovakia.

The car was never delivered. During the AUTO1 logistics process it became non-drivable and has remained at their logistics center in Kolin, Czech Republic. Despite many emails, phone calls and escalations, AUTO1 has still not provided a proper technical diagnosis.

I am now willing to travel hundreds of kilometers to Kolin myself, bring my own technician and the second key, and try to solve the problem at my own expense.

AUTO1 also wants me to sign a handover protocol before I am allowed to open and properly inspect the vehicle, while refusing to send me a copy of that “standard” protocol in advance.

On top of that, AUTO1 kept €307 for a partial transport to Kolin, although I ordered transport to Brezno, Slovakia.

After weeks of communication, promised callbacks and unanswered emails, I still have no clear solution.

This has been my last purchase through AUTO1.

Honestly if you bought a car that on paper had no defects. You pick up it up and you see it has big defects. You film them. And they will 100 perecent will not compensate any of them. My personal experience. They said its just normal wear, they did not even try to come up with something. Bough a cabrio, the roof should worked, though on pick up it did not. Multimedia was dead, though it should worked. Spent 500eur on fixing it, no compensation.

I have been buying cars with them for 5 years

I have been buying cars with them for several years and it was always a nice collaboration (refunds or vouchers in case of problems). The last year (probably since they started their own autohero sales channel) things have gone completely wrong and cars have been delivered with hidden damage and the contact has been very difficult.
So beware when you buy a car to always check in detail because they won't and always calculate some extra reserve into your bid!

The state of the used car market is an absolute joke right now
Honestly, it feels like 7 out of 10 used cars on the market today have some sort of hidden defect.
Whether it's severe hail damage, hidden rust that they conveniently avoid showing in pictures, or a "missing" service history book—the quality of cars out there is just pathetic.
To make matters worse, sellers and dealerships completely refuse to accept any complaints or take responsibility once they take your money. It’s a total lottery, and the buyers are the ones getting screwed over.

Huge delays and lack of support

We purchased four cars from AUTO1 for approximately €120,000 and also ordered transport through them. Two months later, Tesla Model Y JN36635 is still marked as “in preparation”. We have no clear information about where the car is or when we will receive it.

Every time we contact support, we get essentially the same answer: “We are awaiting a response from the responsible department.” No explanation, no confirmed delivery date and no concrete solution.

AUTO1 has also refused our request for a refund, leaving us with money tied up and no certainty about delivery.

For a business buying vehicles for resale, this delay and lack of communication have a significant impact on cash flow and operations. We are extremely disappointed with the service and the handling of this situation.

I had a good experience overall. The cars were delivered as presented on the website, with no major discrepancies. Communication with my account manager was excellent. They were always helpful and did their best to assist whenever needed.

Serious concerns about AUTO1.com’s accountability and complaint handling

We have completed a significant number of vehicle transactions through AUTO1.com and, unfortunately, have had several negative experiences. However, the most recent case clearly demonstrated how AUTO1.com handles situations where inaccurate information has been published on its own platform.

The dispute concerned a Volvo XC70 purchased based on the information and photographs published in the AUTO1.com auction listing.

After delivery, significant discrepancies were identified. AUTO1.com later expressly acknowledged in writing that several photographs in the auction listing showed engine-compartment components belonging to a different vehicle.

The incorrect photographs showed the engine compartment and coolant reservoir. In those photographs, the coolant level appeared normal, whereas the vehicle actually delivered had a significantly reduced coolant level, a nearly empty coolant reservoir, and an active “Low Coolant Level” warning.

AUTO1.com described this as an internal “file-handling error”. Despite acknowledging that incorrect photographs had been published, AUTO1.com refused to offer a return of the vehicle, compensation, or any other solution.

Even more disappointing was the way the complaint was handled.

We repeatedly submitted detailed explanations, photographs, videos, a Technical Report and formal written complaints. Despite this, several important points were either not addressed or were addressed inaccurately.

For example, AUTO1.com stated that only two photographs were incorrect, although we had specifically identified three. It also claimed that the date of the Technical Report was unclear, even though the document itself was clearly dated and included the inspection date and time.

We repeatedly asked AUTO1.com to explain where the auction listing had specifically disclosed the “Low Coolant Level” warning, significantly reduced coolant level, or nearly empty coolant reservoir before the purchase. AUTO1.com instead relied on general references such as “Control lights on” and “CHECK ENGINE”.

We also asked how a purchaser could reasonably have known the actual condition of the vehicle when the issue was not specifically disclosed in writing and the photographs used to assess the coolant reservoir actually showed components of another vehicle.

We did not receive a substantive response to these questions.

During the dispute, access to our AUTO1.com account was also restricted twice while the matter remained unresolved.

Communication with AUTO1.com’s senior representatives was also disappointing. In our experience, communication with both the Vice President Central & Eastern Europe and the Head of Sales Eastern Europe was dismissive and unprofessional. We were left with the impression that the evidence and arguments submitted were not being fully assessed and that the focus was simply on maintaining the position already taken.

Ultimately, AUTO1.com informed us that its decision was “final” and that, if we disagreed, we could pursue the matter before the competent German courts.

Our concern is therefore no longer limited to one vehicle. It concerns how AUTO1.com takes responsibility for information published on its own platform, how thoroughly complaints are reviewed, and whether purchasers can reasonably rely on the photographs and information contained in its auction listings.

Mistakes can happen in any business. What matters is how a company responds once a mistake has been identified.

In this case, AUTO1.com acknowledged in writing that photographs of another vehicle had been published, yet refused to accept financial responsibility for the consequences, failed to provide substantive answers to key questions, and ultimately directed us to the German courts.

From a professional B2B vehicle-trading platform, we expect a significantly higher standard of accountability, transparency, communication and complaint handling.

We have retained the complete documentation relating to this matter, including the auction materials, photographs, videos, Technical Report, correspondence and AUTO1.com’s written acknowledgment regarding the incorrect photographs.

Misdescribed advertisment

We are a small dealer, and we’ve been using AUTO1 for a while. But this last experience is just unbelievable.

We bought a car – BMW iX3 2023, stock WG70939. The advertisement clearly said “non‑accident”. Looked good, so we placed a bid and won.

After the purchase, we ran a VIN check. It turns out the car was written off by insurance after a serious crash – an economic total loss. The advertisement was simply a lie.

We told AUTO1 we cannot accept this car because it was misdescribed. We refused to pay.

Then their Estonian support team wrote back. They said:

“The car was bought from remarketing especially for you, so we cannot cancel.”

“You must accept an LPF invoice and relist the car yourself.”

And finally, they issued a penalty against us and blocked our account.

We have reviewed AUTO1’s own terms and conditions. Nowhere does it say that a car bought “especially for you” can be sold with a false description. This is just an excuse. We believe AUTO1 is violating their own rules.

So here is our position, very clear:

We will never pay that penalty. We demand that AUTO1 cancels both the car and the penalty completely. The only outcome we accept is: no car, no fine, no cost to us.

We did nothing wrong – we relied on their description. They made the mistake, not us.

AUTO1 Germany, if you are reading this: please step in and fix this. Your regional team is ignoring fair business practices and your own terms. But honestly, our trust in the platform is gone.

To other dealers:
Be very careful. Even when a car is advertised as “non‑accident”, it might be an insurance write‑off. And if you refuse to pay for a misdescribed car, they may fine you and lock your account. This is not how a professional platform should behave.
