Summary

  • Concurrent benchmark groups (concurrent/*, concurrent_file/*, concurrent_btree_scan) fire false-positive regressions on CI because they measure mutex/thread scheduling latency, which varies with shared runner load — not code changes
  • Issue Benchmark regression (light) - 2026-04-09 #116 was a confirmed false positive: no code changed, two unrelated groups both "regressed" simultaneously on a slow runner
  • Raises --threshold-upper-boundary from 0.99 → 0.999 for all concurrent groups in both bench_light.yml and bench.yml
  • Sequential benchmark groups keep the tighter 0.99 threshold
  • Implemented via a per-matrix threshold field so each group's sensitivity is explicit and independently adjustable

Test plan

  • Verify next nightly run does not open a false-positive regression issue for concurrent groups under normal runner variance
  • Confirm a genuine regression (e.g. adding a sleep to the write path) still fires

Closes #116

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Concurrent benchmarks measure mutex/thread scheduling latency, which
is highly sensitive to shared CI runner load. At the standard 0.99
upper boundary the t-test fires on normal runner variance (as seen in
issue #116 / run 24179274502) even when no code changed.

Sequential benchmark groups keep the tighter 0.99 threshold.
Applies to both bench_light.yml and bench.yml.
