fix(minimald): handle --help at every level of the in-session min helper - #2312
Conversation
The in-session min helper only recognized --help for package patched-build; every other level either errored with an unknown-subcommand message or forwarded the flag to the daemon as data. Add a shared __min_usage and an __min_is_help check at each dispatch level so -h/--help/help print that level's usage to stdout and exit 0 without contacting the daemon, and bare min package/min task/min net print their usage on stderr with exit 1 instead of an unknown-subcommand error. …as an argument min run --help, min task run --help and min add --build --help still sent --help to the daemon. In argument slots a bare help is a package name, search term or task name, so only -h/--help count there; the subcommand slots keep accepting help.
…usage min materialize, check, package build and add now answer -h/--help anywhere in their arguments instead of forwarding it to the daemon; min run stays first-slot only, since later arguments belong to the task. patched-build help goes to stdout through __min_usage, the leftover min_search/min_add usage strings name the real commands, search usage reads <query> everywhere, and the top-level usage lists the shortcuts. The help test now asserts each level's own usage line.

Only the canonical noun forms appear in --help; the shortcuts keep working but are not advertised.

A help flag after -o/--output or --arch is that flag's value, so min materialize --output --help x reaches the daemon. An unknown package, task, or net subcommand now prints that level's usage on stderr after the error. The help test asserts the other stream stays empty.

Read the helper end to end. The two predicates keep the right distinction: a bare help counts only in a subcommand slot, never in an argument slot where it is a package, term or task name, and min run checks only its first argument so a task's own --help still reaches the task. materialize skips the value after -o/--output/--arch, so a path spelled --help is a path. Help goes to stdout with exit 0, error paths to stderr with exit 1, and the table test executes the installed script across every level with a stand-in socat to prove no RPC leaves. CodeRabbit's earlier changes-requested was on an older commit; it approved the current head.

The
minhelper installed inside sessions only recognized--helpforpackage patched-build; at every other dispatch level-h/--help/helpeither errored with an unknown-subcommand message or was forwarded to the
daemon as data, and a bare
min package/min task/min netprinted anempty-subcommand error instead of that level's usage.
This adds a shared usage function and a help check at each dispatch level, so
all three help spellings print that level's usage to stdout and exit 0 without
contacting the daemon, while bare
package/task/netand unknownsubcommands print usage on stderr and exit 1. The top-level usage text now
lives in one function shared by
min --help(exit 0) and the unknown-subcommand path (exit 1).
Verification
cargo fmt --all --check— passcargo clippy --workspace --all-targets --locked -- -D warnings— passcargo test --locked -p minimald help— 3 passed, including the newhelp_spellings_print_usage_without_rpctable test, which executes theinstalled helper as a script across all dispatch levels (19 rows) and
asserts usage on the right stream, the right exit code, and that no RPC
reaches the daemon.
