ci(macos): take the unit job's crate list from the justfile scope - #2200
Conversation
The macOS unit job named `-p minvmd -p sessions` in three steps, so
renaming a crate (sessions -> boxes, R2) had to edit a frozen,
CODEOWNER-gated workflow. Those steps now call justfile recipes that
expand `{{scope}}`, so the list lives in one place:
- unit tests: `just test --profile ci -E 'not binary(/_integration$/)'`
(`test` now forwards extra args to nextest positionally)
- doctests: `just doctest`
- testbed archive: `just test-archive <file>` (new recipe)
just is installed by the existing pinned taiki-e/install-action step,
and the paths filter now includes the justfile, since a scope edit
changes what this lane runs. Job names are unchanged.

The sessions crate is being renamed to boxes (R2, #2201). Match both paths so the advisory Kani lane keeps running on PRs that touch the crate before and after the rename, and drop the crate's old name from two comments. Resolve the rename against the telemetry series and the merged #2200: the macOS workflow takes main's wording, and the five new `sessions::` paths the series added in minimald (env.rs, listeners.rs, server.rs) become `boxes::`. minimald's own `sessions` module is untouched. Problem
.github/workflows/ci-macos.yml'sunitjob wrote-p minvmd -p sessionsinto three steps. The workflow is frozen and CODEOWNER-gated, so any crate rename in that set (next up:sessions→boxes, R2) had to edit it, on top of the justfile'sscopevariable that already holds the same list.Change
The three steps now call justfile recipes that expand
{{scope}}, so the crate list lives only in the justfile:cargo nextest run -p minvmd -p sessions --locked --profile ci --no-tests=fail -E 'not binary(/_integration$/)'just test --profile ci -E 'not binary(/_integration$/)'cargo test --doc -p minvmd -p sessions --lockedjust doctestcargo nextest archive -p minvmd -p sessions --locked --archive-file testbed/nextest-archive.tar.zstjust test-archive testbed/nextest-archive.tar.zsttesttakes*args(forwarded positionally under[positional-arguments], so the filterset stays one word); newtest-archive filerecipe.justinstalls through the existing pinnedtaiki-e/install-actionstep (tool: nextest, just); no new action.justfile: once the scope lives there, a justfile-only change (R2 itself) must run this lane.ci-macos-successare unaffected. Comments that described the crate list now point at the justfile.Equivalence
Argv each recipe hands cargo, captured with a fake
cargoon PATH andscope/ci-profileoverridden to their darwin values (os() == "macos"):Same arguments as before, in a different order. The archived package set stays minvmd + sessions, which the mini's hypervisor-tier replay needs. Local behavior is unchanged: bare
just test still expands tonextest run --workspace --profile ci --locked --no-tests=failon Linux, and tonextest run -p minvmd -p sessions --locked --no-tests=failon macOS.One side effect: CI steps now run under the justfile's exports (PATH gets
target/debugprepended, plusMINVMD_*image paths and 150 s timeouts), which is what a local macOSjust testalready sees. The non-_integrationtests don't rely on those defaults; the minvmd image-resolver tests set or clear the vars themselves.actionlintisn't on PATH in this sandbox, so the workflow-lint job checks the YAML. This PR runs the editedunitjob itself.Needs a CODEOWNER review (edits a frozen workflow, approved by @mitodrummer for this purpose).
