[worker:coverage] test minimal::diag::cmd_bug bundle collection - #1684
Conversation
Add integration tests exercising cmd_bug end-to-end with --no-guest: manifest validity, host collectors, log tail capture and capping, config redaction, provider files, state listing, and mesh-enrolment handling. Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com>

for the file’s first and last 1024-byte segments, then assert the captured log

when an error mentions mesh-enrolment; ignore errors from unrelated host

Round 1 of 10 is on this pull request. branch Updated 2026-09-24T21:22:57.493Z. |
Address the review findings on #1684 and the clippy failure: - the tail-cap fixture now uses distinct head/tail bytes, so the assertion proves the capture reads from the end of the file (a head read of the old uniform fixture would have passed) - the missing-mesh-enrolment test scopes its error assertion to entries mentioning mesh-enrolment instead of the manifest's whole error list, which is fed by environment-dependent host collectors - assert non-emptiness with is_empty(), satisfying clippy::len_zero (-D warnings), the 8000 CI clippy lane's only error
|
Round 1 of 10 on a /revise note, pushed as No Review threads the coder judged:
At this branch, PR #1684's failing checks are addressed: the clippy lane's only error (clippy::len_zero in the new cmd_bug test module) is fixed, the tail-cap test now uses distinct 'H' head / 'T' tail bytes so its all-'T' assertion genuinely proves the capture reads the last 1024 bytes rather than the first, and the missing-mesh-enrolment test asserts only that no error mentions mesh-enrolment instead of demanding an empty manifest-wide error list. cargo test -p minimal diag:: passes 34/34, fmt and clippy are clean. Notes from the agent: Both review threads were judged valid against the code and fixed: (1) the uniform b'A' fixture could not distinguish a head read from a tail read, so it now writes 1024 'H' bytes followed by 1024 'T' bytes and asserts all-'T' (add_file_tail seeks to End-cap, confirmed in crates/diagnostics/src/bundle.rs:180); (2) errors.is_empty() was hostage to environment-dependent host collectors (net/procs/power read the live system), so the assertion is scoped to error entries mentioning 'mesh-enrolment' — the mesh collector itself only ever records a skip, never an error, for enrolment trouble. The failing ci-success/clippy checks traced to a single clippy::len_zero error in the new test module; clippy was verified with the CI command scoped to the touched crate (-p minimal --all-targets --locked -- -D warnings) rather than the full --workspace run, since this PR changes nothing outside that crate and main's workspace clippy was green. The two pre-existing crates/checkouts git-clone test failures mentioned in the PR body were not run or reproduced here; they are outside this PR's change set. |
#1684 landed thirteen BugArgs literals in the diag unit tests; merging main brought them onto this branch without the two fields it adds, so the lib test target no longer compiled (E0063). Set them the way the tests/bug.rs helper does: no upload, an empty portal.
