"A New Way to look at Networking" 2006 talk by Van Jacobson #15
This is about named data networking or content centric networking, which seems to be the same thing or very similar to cyphernet. Are there differences between cyphernet and CCNx? If not, it may have been implemented already at Xerox PARC. ...will research whether the implementation is usable.
cyphernet & CCNx are based on many of the same insights, and in some ways, they have a lot in common.
Both are based on the idea of getting valid data nearer to the user, I think both should be able to be used
over, say, a bluetooth connection, on a subway, if both users have the same pages.
cyhpernet is a little more low-level. it is based on symmetrical hashes,
if you where to do a request for a single piece of data it would be for a hash.
that piece of data could be a signature, or a public key.
on the other hand, CCNx has the idea of public keys, and signed name value pairs
baked into the protocol. You could build a structure like this with cyphernet, but it's not the fundamental structure.
But, we are both exploring very similar ideas, except that cyphernet comes from database ideas (replication) and CCNx comes from networking.
