Description

Before: a new pipeline needed a typed name, and the Create button stayed disabled until it had one. A new routine was already named for you, but the survey still typed a name. In a new note, you had to click into the body after typing the title.

After:

  • A new pipeline is named for you ("Pipeline N", shown as the placeholder), and Enter in the name field creates it.
  • A routine's suggested name is used when you press Enter. That already worked, and the journey now does it.
  • Enter in a note's title puts the caret on the page's first line.

Measured with ci/clicks:

Feature Before After
Write a note 3 clicks, 35 keys 2 clicks, 36 keys
Make a pipeline 3 clicks, 14 keys 2 clicks, 1 key
Make a nightly routine 3 clicks, 12 keys 2 clicks, 1 key
All 19 features 45 clicks, 215 keys, 1 prompt (261) 42 clicks, 192 keys, 1 prompt (235)

The meter now treats a caret inside a rich-text editor as focus, because the editor's page root holds the focus while the caret sits in a paragraph.

Motivation and Context

Round 4 of Adeel's "make it easy as 1 2 3" request. The baseline has gone 274 → 266 → 261 → 235.

Types of changes

  • Bug fix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue)
  • New feature (non-breaking change which adds functionality)

…r steps

Takes #336's Enter on a new pipeline's name and its pipeline and routine
journeys, keeps the step-based guess instead of "Pipeline N", and opens
the new-token form once the token list comes back empty, so the account
menu's ?new=1 no longer races its own query. Computer survey 229 from 235.
