Before: when SURREAL_PASS no longer matched the database volume, the backend died with only "cannot open SurrealDB at ws://surrealdb:8000: There was a problem with authentication."
After: the same error adds that SURREAL_USER/SURREAL_PASS don't match the user the database was created with, and to set them back to the original values (see .env) and restart.
How: SurrealDB keeps the root user it was first started with, so a later password change in .env doesn't apply.
DB.__init__now adds that hint for server URLs when the error mentions authentication. One unit test covers it.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
