Description
Before: you could only create extensions through the API, as code (#81) or as canvas graphs (#92).
After: you can ask the assistant in chat or by voice ("make me a tool that translates text"). It drafts the manifest. When the check fails, it reads the error and fixes the draft. It then asks for approval before saving anything.
It can also list your extensions, read one back, save a new version, and switch one on or off. Saving and switching always ask first, even in a setup conversation.
Approved saves are recorded as made in chat. The docs (
docs/assistant.md) gain a section on extending the assistant.How: new built-in tools in
ai_tools.py(list_extensions,read_extension,save_extension,switch_extension). They are offered whileai.extensionsis on. Viewers get only the two read tools. The approval re-checks the manifest when it is decided.Motivation and Context
A simple user can customize the assistant through chat or voice as far as an advanced user can through code or the canvas.
