SSO Bulk Load

This project is designed to facilitate bulk user creation in Red Hat Single Sign-On (RH-SSO), enabling extensive performance testing of the system.

Important

This project is not affiliated with Red Hat and is not an official endeavor. It's a personal initiative designed to assist me in testing RH-SSO. Use this project at your own risk. It is not recommended for use in a production environment.

Requirements

  • Maven 3.6.3 or latest
  • podman version 4.8.3
  • OpenShift 4.12 or latest
  • Red Hat Single Sign-On 7.6
  • oc client
  • Suported databases:
    • PostgreSQL
    • MySQL
    • MariaDB
    • Oracle
    • Microsoft SQL Server

Compile and Run

This project is architected to operate within a container. The following instructions will navigate you through the process of compiling the source code, constructing a container image, and executing the container. If you prefer you can take the image from quay.io and skip the steps of compiling the source code and building the container image.

Compiling source code

Now that you have the necessary tools installed, you can compile the source code. To do so, execute the following command:

$ mvn clean package -Pnative

[WARNING] [io.quarkus.deployment.steps.NativeImageAllowIncompleteClasspathAggregateStep] The following extensions have required native-image to allow run-time resolution of classes: {quarkus-jdbc-oracle}. This is a global requirement which might have unexpected effects on other extensions as well, and is a hint of the library needing some additional refactoring to better support GraalVM native-image. In the case of 3rd party dependencies and/or proprietary code there is not much we can do - please ask for support to your library vendor. If you incur in any problem with other Quarkus extensions, please try reproducing the problem without these extensions first.

Running the container

Now lets run the container, you can choose between podman or OpenShift to run.

Runnig the container using podman

$ podman run -d \
    -p 9000:9000 \
    -e CONFIG.DATASOURCE.DRIVER="<driver-name>" \
    -e CONFIG.DATASOURCE.URL="<jdbc_url>" \
    -e CONFIG.DATASOURCE.USERNAME="<db_username>" \
    -e CONFIG.DATASOURCE.PASSWORD="<db_password>" \
    -e CONFIG.KEYCLOAK.REALM="<sso_realm>" \
    --name sso-bulk-load-multi-db \
    quay.io/parraes/sso-bulk-load:v0.0.2
  • CONFIG.DATASOURCE.DRIVER is the driver of the database, it can be postgres, mysql, mariadb, oracle or mssql.
  • CONFIG.DATASOURCE.URL is the url of the database, it can be jdbc:postgresql://hostname:port_number/database_name, jdbc:mysql://hostname:port_number/database_name, jdbc:mariadb://hostname:port_number/database_name, jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:port_number:database_name or jdbc:sqlserver://hostname:port_number;databaseName=database_name.
  • CONFIG.DATASOURCE.USERNAME is the username of the database.
  • CONFIG.DATASOURCE.PASSWORD is the password of the database.
  • CONFIG.KEYCLOAK.REALM is the realm of the RH-SSO.

Runnig the container using OpenShift

Now lets run the container using OpenShift, you can use the following command to create a deployment and a service:

$ oc new-app --name=sso-bulk-load-multi-db \
    -e CONFIG.DATASOURCE.DRIVER="<driver-name>" \
    -e CONFIG.DATASOURCE.URL="<jdbc_url>" \
    -e CONFIG.DATASOURCE.USERNAME="<db_username>" \
    -e CONFIG.DATASOURCE.PASSWORD="<db_password>" \
    -e CONFIG.KEYCLOAK.REALM="<sso_realm>" \
    quay.io/parraes/sso-bulk-load:v0.0.2

Expose the service to the external network:

oc expose svc/sso-bulk-load-multi-db

Get the route of the service:

oc get route sso-bulk-load-multi-db

Using api to create users

Now lets using the api to create users, you can use the following command to create users:

curl -X 'POST' \
  'http://<hostname>:<port>/bulk/insert/10000' \
  -H 'accept: text/plain' \
  -d ''

This command will create 10000 users in the RH-SSO.

Using api to drop users

Now lets using the api to drop users, you can use the following command to drop users:

curl -X 'DELETE' \
  'http://<hostname>:<port>bulk/delete/admin' \
  -H 'accept: text/plain'

All users will be dropped from the RH-SSO, except the admin user. ``
