Since migration to maven I would say they cause more problems than they add value, since everyone uses different settings/JDKs and other stuff. Idea can import from maven directly and it generate better files.
Note: Includes #94 because I have the files changed and untracked and rebasing causes random failures etc. Will rebase once #94 is merged
