That's not s problem for me at all. I am not using an IDE anyway and also think that the artifacts are obsolete due to the maven/ant build. Thanks for cleaning this up!

Since I am working on multiple branches at the same time, I have different IDE configuration for each of them. This means a lot of changes in the .idea folder, the problem is that this configuration is specific to me and other developers/users might want it differently and since we are using Maven, everybody can now import it and customize it to their own taste.
To enable this I updated .gitignore and remove .idea from the index.
