Every publish, fanout delivery, presence event, or API event counts as a message.

Messages are metered in 5 KiB units, where 5 KiB is 5,120 bytes. A publish, a fanout delivery, or a presence event up to that size counts as one message. Anything larger counts as one message per 5 KiB, so a 12 KiB publish counts as 3. A batch is measured as a whole, so batching costs less than publishing the same messages one at a time.
How billing works
A flat monthly fee, plus overage only if you exceed it.
Each plan includes a monthly message allotment and capacity limits. Messages above the allotment are billed at $0.25 per million. Channels and connections are capacity limits, not metered charges.
