The only down fall with this boat is there is no fans in the cabins.

A deeply disappointing charter experience – particularly in the way a serious incident was handled

I rarely write negative reviews, but after giving Croatia Yachting ample opportunity to respond directly, I feel that prospective customers should know about my experience.

I chartered a Bali 4.6 catamaran from Croatia Yachting in June 2026 for a private holiday with three invited guests. Given the price and the reputation of the company, I expected a high-quality yacht, professional service and a relaxing week on the Adriatic.

Unfortunately, the experience fell considerably short of those expectations.

The yacht itself did not, in my view, reflect the quality I expected for the price paid. Among other things, we experienced problems with the air conditioning. The overall service experience also did not meet my expectations. I had hoped for a professionally supported charter where we could relax and enjoy Croatia rather than frequently feeling that we were largely left to ourselves.

Then, on 25 June, the situation became much more serious.

While using the yacht's built-in gas grill, there was a sudden deflagration/flash flame and one of my guests suffered burns to both arms, subsequently medically assessed as first- and second-degree burns.

We contacted the skipper immediately. As he was away from the yacht at the time, we initially had to deal with the situation ourselves and use supplies from our own travel first-aid kit. Medical treatment followed.

I do not want to make the skipper personally the focus of this review. My concern lies elsewhere.

An accident can happen. What has disappointed me most is the way Croatia Yachting has handled the situation afterwards.

I reported the incident and repeatedly approached Croatia Yachting seeking an explanation, an investigation of what had happened and an appropriate response.

I tried to resolve the matter professionally and directly.

The booking intermediary, Nautilus Yachting, responded and explained its position. The insurer responded regarding the limited passenger accident insurance coverage.

Croatia Yachting – the company that operated the yacht – has so far not provided me with a substantive response to the serious issues I raised.

For me, this has become more troubling than the question of compensation itself.

I was the customer. I chartered and paid for the yacht. A guest whom I had invited on this holiday was injured in a serious incident involving equipment provided with that yacht.

Under those circumstances, I would expect the company operating the yacht to take ownership of the situation: to contact its customer, investigate what happened, explain its findings and engage constructively in finding a resolution.

Instead, despite repeated attempts on my part to engage with Croatia Yachting, I feel ignored.

That is deeply disappointing.

I am deliberately not speculating about the technical cause of the incident or making allegations about legal responsibility. Those questions remain to be clarified.

Nor am I writing this review primarily because of the unresolved question of compensation.

I am writing it because I believe prospective customers should know how a company responds when something goes seriously wrong. For me, that is as important as the quality of the yacht itself.

Based on my experience – the quality and comfort of the yacht in relation to its price, the overall service during the charter and, above all, Croatia Yachting's handling of a serious incident afterwards – I am deeply disappointed.

I expected professionalism and a sense of responsibility.

Unfortunately, that is not what I experienced, and I would not choose to charter with Croatia Yachting again.

Staff was informative and helpful. The boat was in relatively good condition according to its age. The boat was prepared in time. We had early check-in.

My experience with Croatia Yachting was excellent. We sailed the Hanse Hype 510 and received outstanding support throughout the whole experience. Whenever we encountered a technical issue, the team was helpful and worked with us to resolve it quickly.
The boat manager was always available online, ready to advise and help whenever needed. Both the check-in and check-out processes were quick and smooth.
I would be very happy to sail with Croatia Yachting again. Highly recommended!

La partie réservation et relation avant le séjour a été très réactive et agréable.
L’arrivée sur place a été rapide et bien gérée.
Le bateau était très agréable, très bien conçu et en très bon état.
La zone de navigation est très belle et les escales étaient agréables avec à chaque fois des bons conseils du capitaine qui effectuait les réservations pour les restaurants.
Nous avons pris un équipage incluant également l’ hôtesse qui était une jeune étudiante sympathique mais malheureusement pas du tout professionnelle. Nous n’étions que 4 à bord et avons dîner tous les soirs au restaurant ce qui doit normalement rendre le travail assez simple pour autant ce n’était vraiment pas satisfaisant.
Par exemple: Le ménage n’a jamais été fait dans les chambres pendant tout le séjour, la table du petit déjeuner n’était jamais préparée alors que l’on se levait après 9h, les déjeuners à bord étaient très simples tandis que le service à table était souvent partiel et mal organisé. Nous avons notamment été servi de plats sans avoir ni couverts, ni verres, ni eau car les plats ont été servis au moment de la manoeuvre de port... Très souvent après le service la table n’était pas débarrassée totalement…
Par ailleurs, le vendredi soir le capitaine et l’hôtesse ont quitté rapidement le bateau.
Nous nous sommes ensuite rendu compte que l’électricité n’était pas connectée au quai et donc que nous n’avions ni équipements électriques, ni Clim, puis ensuite que le tank d’eau était été vide, ensuite que la vaisselle n’était pas faite ni les poubelles vidées.
Heureusement des marins des bateaux voisins sont venus plusieurs fois pour résoudre les problèmes techniques (car pour mettre en route la Clim il vaut aller dans la cale moteur et pour l’eau même après avoir rempli le tank, l’eau ne marchait toujours pas le samedi matin et il a fallu aller dans des trappes dans les cabines) impossibles à solutionner sans accompagnement. Nous avons donc trouvé cette façon de partir sans se préoccuper de nous laisser le bateau dans un état normal de fonctionnement, franchement très incorrect.
Au global la réservation, l’accueil, et le séjour ont été agréables mais nous avons été très déçus par le service à bord ainsi que par la dernière nuit qui a été très mal gérée.

They rent us a boat for 11 people and there were only 9 beds for sleeping

Standard boat, very basic service terribke crew. You pay peanuts but you get monkeys

From May 30st to June 6th we chartered the Catch Me If You Can and we really had a great experience from the beginning to the end. The boat is really great and is in very good condition! There was nothing to complain about from the check in to the return of the boat at the of the charter. Everything worked very well and and the team of the base is very helpful, very friendly and experienced. We are definitely looking forward to come back to Croatia Yachting in the future!

Peter was very helpful and made our start and return stress free. I would recommend this company for an enjoyable sailing holiday.
