A very poor experience
A very poor experience. I ordered a laptop on 21 August specifically because delivery was promised for 1 September. I was then telephoned and told it could be delivered even earlier, on 28 August.
On 27 August I received an email saying delivery would actually take around four weeks. I called customer services twice and was assured the email I have was an error, that I should ignore it, and that delivery would still take place on 28 August with tracking information to follow.
No tracking information arrived and, when I called again on 28 August, I was finally told the laptop would not be delivered. I then asked to cancel the order, but this was initially refused pending intervention by a senior case manager. I was twice promised call-backs which never came and ultimately had to make several calls before the matter was dealt with.
My complaint is not simply that delivery was delayed. It is that I was repeatedly given specific assurances about delivery which proved to be incorrect, even after I queried contradictory information. It should not take four telephone calls to establish the true position, nor should a customer have difficulty cancelling an order when the promised delivery cannot be honoured.
Extremely disappointing customer service and I would be very cautious about relying on the delivery dates quoted when placing an order.
I have just received an answer from a Dyann at Buyitdirect - I would refer them them to the correspondence passing between me and its head of Customer services Ephraigm who is based in the Phillippines as it the rest of the Group's customer service- If Dyann would like to send his/her e-mail I can forward the correspondence.
I did not get a response from Dyann, But Laptops Direct has now responded further to my complaint, and I think its position is relevant to other consumers.
Fortunately, I have obtained a better deal elsewhere and my financial loss is now nil. This is therefore no longer about compensation.
The issue is how Laptops Direct responds when a complaint arises from its own conduct.
For me, the consumer question is simple: what can a customer rely upon when Laptops Direct gives specific assurances about delivery, and what happens when those assurances prove wrong and generate a complaint?
Laptops Direct has chosen to respond publicly to my Trustpilot review, which it is perfectly entitled to do. It is equally important that consumers understand the substance of the position communicated to me privately.
I now have nothing financially to gain from pursuing this. I simply think prospective customers should know how Laptops Direct dealt with the situation and decide for themselves whether they would be comfortable relying on its delivery assurances when timing matters.

Disappointed
The item was great, the delivery time was good, but I paid for delivery and installation of the dishwasher, the guys that delivered it were obviously in a hurry, they bent the water hose at the back, installed the drainage pipe incorrectly and now the dishwasher doesn't drain and we also have a leak from the water supply which we didn't have before. The delivery people said they will reimburse the delivery cost! That doesn't really help me sort out the issues I have now to rectify, including having to put a new hose on a brand new dishwasher and other remedial work. Phoned Appliances direct and they said unless the item is faulty there is nothing they can do. So overall not a great experience.

No refund
When purchasing a sofa it was not clear that the castor wheels were included with the sofa so I purchased an additional set, upon realising my mistake upon delivery I immediately contacted them and returned the sealed item with tracking details to them in July at my own expense and sent them the tracking details. Waited two weeks but rdceived no response. Emailed and they stated return had been received but not lodged yet. Waited a further 4 weeks as no refund received, emailed again. Now they state return wasn't received so I emailed tracking details and proof of delivery again. It's been six weeks, they have the returned item but no refund. Unfortunately will have to take further steps now. Don't use!!!
