Many discussions I've had in the past few weeks on the exponential of AI capabilities are reflected in this paragraph. The idea of slowing down AI has been floated as far back as 2023, and Dario writes that it made very little sense back then. The question was always what you would do with the extra time? The models of those days could not act as agents in any coherent way, so more time to study them would not have made a big difference. Now it does. The models of today are in Dario's words "an almost endless gold mine of insight" into how to build AI reliably and what can sometimes go wrong with it, and even 1 or 2 years studying and refine them, focused on their alignment, could greatly reduce the risk that something goes seriously wrong with more powerful models. Chiara Massironi shared thisThe time has come for me to hang up my track jacket. Leading Twilio’s DevRel team has been the highlight of my career so far. As I reflect on this decade, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. My journey at Twilio has been beautifully squiggly. I’ve worked as an IC, led teams, built education programs, served startup and developer communities, helped build video games, and so much more. But across every role, DevRel taught me the same: to relentlessly advocate for what developers actually need. The DevRel leaders who came before me taught me how to lead with empathy, encourage bold thinking, and build a culture where everyone can bring their true selves to work. What made this experience so unique was our way of working. Our team built an incredible culture around delivering value through surprising moments and genuine fun. We shipped code to space. We lost Macklemore in the cloud. We created activations that made people feel what our products could do, not just understand them intellectually. That’s rare, and it shaped how I think about building. Beyond the work, I’m walking away with a decade of memories with the people who made this special. The team members I got to work with and learn from, and the friends I made along the way. Thank you to everyone who made this journey so special. You know who you are. 💖 In terms of what’s next for me, I’m stepping into a new community role which I’m very excited about. I’ll share more soon.

On Wednesday 7 October we're hosting a Build Day in Madrid: three hours to push Opus 5.5 to its limits with Claude Code. Bring a hard problem, a half-finished idea, or that task you repeat every week and would love to get rid of. You don't need to be a developer. If you already use Claude Code, there's a place for you: product, design, data, founders, or anyone who builds their own tools. Build solo or in a team, in one of three categories: ✨ Wow: something surprising, fun, or beautiful. 🔓 Previously impossible: something you couldn't have built before. 🛠️ For Monday: something so useful you'll be using it next week. Chiara Massironi reacted on thisChiara Massironi reacted on thisMy team came in 2nd place at the Claude Impact Lab in Barcelona yesterday, a one day event where teams build AI solutions with real impact in the city. What a great way to close out this week. We wanted to build something for the elderly, who here are a big part of the city and are often forgotten or dismissed. I never got to know my grandparents, but I so wish I had gotten the chance to learn from them and teach them the things that would make their day easier, especially technology. Most of what exists for them today are services for companionship. We wanted to flip that around and make them the protagonists. So we built Saviesa (wisdom in Catalan). The platform interviews the grandma or grandpa about their life, what their career was, their passions, what they would like others to learn from them and when they're free during the week. All of it by voice so there is nothing for them to figure out. The AI takes that conversation and creates their profile and the workshop they will give. University students sign up for the workshops and get credit for attending. They also give back by staying afterwards to help the grandparents with whatever tech they want to learn. And because we wanted it to be a safe space for the grandparents, everything is managed by the casals, the social centers they already go to. We built the whole thing from scratch in under three hours. We went through the whole ecosystem to get there. Claude chat to brainstorm, Claude Design for the warmest aesthetic we could get, then back into chat to build the mock up as an artifact. When we were happy with it, we went over to Claude Code to build our own desktop app with the Anthropic API inside it. We were also the only all girl team there, which made it even better. Sometimes I sit and think about how quickly Africa’s digital ecosystem is evolving. New startups are launching, new digital products are emerging, and more people are building businesses online every day. It’s exciting to watch the level of innovation and energy coming from across the continent. At the same time, something about it worries me. Many of these businesses are operating without strong cybersecurity protection, not because they want to, but because security is often complicated and difficult to implement unless a company has a full IT or security team. The reality is that most startups and SMEs don’t have that kind of structure, they are simply focused on building and growing. Yet these same businesses are still targets for cyber threats. It makes me believe that the future of Africa’s digital economy will depend heavily on how we rethink cybersecurity accessibility, because the businesses building tomorrow deserve protection today. #StartupEcosystem #CyberSecurity #AfricaTech

Venture capital is famously opaque. For most people, learning how the industry actually works is a game of guesswork and gatekeeping. In 2021, Geri Kirilova, Jeffrey Silverman and David Arcara did the thing they do best: imagined an ambitious reality and excuted it with a small but mighty team. They asked, "What if we could pull back the curtains at scale?" The answer became the Venture Cooperative - a free, private fellowship and community that gives an insider's view into fund operations and early-stage investing.💰 What started as an experiment is now a global community, managed from NYC: 1,500+ fellows across 30+ countries, more than 80% from underrepresented groups. Fellows have launched funds, venture studios, startups, angel syndicates, and even regional communities 🚀 A quick fun fact: a Venture Cooperative fellow (hi Ross Haleliuk 🤍) once invited Geri to speak at Included VC (another brilliant VC fellowship), where I first met Laconia. I later joined a public session of the Venture Cooperative, and the rest is history. The butterfly effects are infinite ♾️. Cohort 10 is launching in mid‑February.
