I purchased the Padstow Oak Rattan Bed from Happy Beds with a 5-year guarantee. In the first instance the wrong mattress was sent, and there were a lot of cosmetic scuffs on the frame which we accepted a small discount for.

After 2 years of standard use, the factory pre-assembled side rail bracket suffered a catastrophic structural failure when three manufacturer-installed steel screws cleanly sheared in half under standard vertical load (rolling over), causing downward damage to the headboard.

When I initially reported the fault, customer service lazily rejected the claim using standard boilerplate scripts, baselessly accusing us of dragging or pulling the bed frame. They based this assessment entirely on an early photo showing the bed moved away from the wall, completely ignoring my written text explaining that we only moved it after it broke to inspect the damage.

I had to compile an airtight chronological case backed by four detailed close-up photographs showing clear vertical wood-grain tearing (not horizontal dragging damage) and a 313MB video showing the clean metal shear. Even after presenting this definitive physical evidence and pointing out that a 5-year commercial warranty is a legally binding contract under UK law, customer service attempted to stall me by passing the buck to a faceless manufacturer, leaving me and my husband sleeping on a mattress on the floor despite my chronic back condition. It was only after I issued a formal 48-hour final deadlock notice detailing structural physics, breach of contract, severe ongoing physical inconvenience, and my intent to escalate immediately to Citizens Advice, Trading Standards, and the Small Claims Court, that Happy Beds finally backed down and issued a full refund. It took 3 weeks in all to get a refund which I thought was unreasonably slow, and we were instructed not to dispose of the frame until the matter was resolved.

While I am glad a full refund was ultimately processed, the initial "computer says no" blame-shifting, administrative stalling, and utter lack of engineering knowledge from customer service made this a highly stressful and exhausting experience.

If your bed breaks under their guarantee window, be prepared to fight hard with physical evidence and legal facts to get them to honor it.

Delivery was excellent. However the footboard was faulty meaning I couldnt properly attach one of the feet. I was recommended to just sleep somewhere else if I couldnt build it. CX helpline no help. Enquiry raised over email a week ago, still await and update.

Very happy with the mattress which is good quality and well made.
Unfortunately the arrangement of delivery wasnt good (not the fault of the delivery company) because my order got "cancelled for no apparent reason" according to Happy Beds. The new delivery date was also missed meaning mattress wasn't received in time for me.
Otherwise, satisfied with the company.

Nice bed and comfortable mattress

Bed is solid, once built. The delivery was on point, in line with messages from the delivery team.

It's putting it together, that was the nightmare.

And I have done a fair few put togethers before! I had to make a couple of holes myself to get some of the screws in.

The heads of the screws chew very easily, and thats without putting that much pressure!

The bunk bed itself is good value on sale and I would recommend it, as delivery was on point too, but having to make a few holes myself and having issues with the screw heads, knocks off 2 stars, as well as the fact that they mention the bed can be built in 1hr which is a way off! 2 people, with some diy experience, probably take around 3-4hrs. Let's see how it holds up!

Bed arrived on schedule and was all as advertised. All fitted and in use now. Extremely happy with the comfort.

Buying was easy, the delivery guys were brilliant and did a great job. What was horrible was the delivery planning resulting in my delivery being cancelled at short notice on the first day then cancelled after the delivery day on the 2nd attempt!

Just what I ordered it’s a very good all round mattress

The company sent the wrong sized mattresses to go with the bunk beds. They collected and sent different mattresses three times but each time they did not fit the bed. We have had to send photos of the mattresses on the beds each time to show they are not the correct size, which has been difficult as we are both in our 70's. As we have had to stay at home to receive delivery or collection for the different mattresses on 6 days we have now asked for a refund.I have just had to ring the company to chase the refund.

We bought a high bed with wardrobe, desk etc. competitive price, good choice, quick delivery. Only downside the construction was long and very challenging. Final product is very practical, solid, my son loves it!
