Fraudsters don't just steal identities anymore. They steal trust. Modern fraud is automated, coordinated, and increasingly difficult to spot with traditional checks alone. That's why understanding who a user is is no longer enough. You also need to understand the context behind every interaction. In this carousel, we break down what Device Intelligence is, how it works, and why it's becoming an essential layer of fraud prevention. This is not a documentary made from behind a desk. To investigate one of the fastest-growing crimes targeting teenagers, Erin West and cybercrime investigator Paul Raffile created a fake teenage profile, deliberately became the target of a sextortion scam, and followed the digital trail all the way to Nigeria. They tracked down the scammer. They travelled to his village. And they confronted the reality behind the crime face-to-face. What started as an investigation into one person opened a door into the wider Yahoo Boy network — revealing how these operations are organised, how the money moves, and why the industry continues to thrive. Sumsub is proud to be a part of this project and we're in awe of Erin and Paul’s courage. They did not simply research this story or write about it from the safety of their offices. They stepped directly into real events, met the people involved, and brought viewers closer to this hidden world than most investigations ever could. Watch it, share it, help more people understand how sextortion really works 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dXGfx5xK

Yesterday’s blacklist can’t always protect you from today’s attack. That’s why Sumsub is adding CyVers AI to its Crypto Monitoring solution. 🤝 The new integration brings two layers of wallet risk intelligence into one place: → Compliance screening for exposure to sanctions, money laundering, darknet activity, and other illicit sources → Real-time fraud detection for wallets linked to emerging scams, hacks, and exploits — often before they appear on public watchlists This means crypto businesses can move beyond checking whether a wallet has already been flagged and start identifying threats as they emerge. Effective crypto compliance should not only document yesterday’s risks, it should help stop today’s threats. Learn more https://lnkd.in/dr5rGXbQ Deddy Lavid 🤝 #CryptoCompliance

Sometimes, identity verification comes with whiskers. In 1943, the U.S. Coast Guard issued an official identification card to Herman the Cat, an "Expert Mouser" working at the Port of Baltimore during World War II. His ID included a photo, physical description, and even a paw print instead of a fingerprint. Why? Because access to a busy wartime port wasn't taken lightly, even for the cat responsible for keeping rats away from military ships. It might sound amusing today, but the idea feels surprisingly familiar: knowing exactly who (or who not) gets access has always been part of keeping critical infrastructure secure. Swipe through one of the most unusual identity documents we've ever seen. 🐾

Fraud rarely starts on a crypto exchange. By the time funds reach an exchange, the scam may have already passed through social media, messaging apps, payment providers, and multiple financial institutions. Yet exchanges are often expected to stop it alone. In our latest article on The Sumsuber, Arturs Linde, Head of Fraud Prevention at Paybis, explains why that model is no longer sustainable, why identity verification alone isn't enough, and what a truly collaborative approach to fraud prevention should look like. → Read the full article on The Sumsuber: https://lnkd.in/dq26d_Ja
