I finally visited a Buc-ee's and it was kinda neat. Maybe the most Amerikan place on the planet. A massive gas station with maybe a hundred pumps and what amounts to a small grocery store inside.

The bathrooms alone were wrap around with stalls and urinals (piss mirrors), and the center were all the sinks. It had such a high throughput that the stalls high bright green and red occupied lights for you to know from afar. Oh and did I mention the hallway to the bathrooms was an art gallery with 4 digit price tags?

The store itself was packed with all the foods you'd expect and a bunch more you maybe wouldn't. There was large glass display for just the beef jerky. Then there was the merch section. T-shirts, mugs, stuffed animals, toys (for kids and dogs), jewelry, hats, you name it, it had a Buc-ee's on it.

I don't get the appeal, but I know someone who does.

My brother recently gave me his moka pot (thanks!) and I've been really loving it. The coffee is infinitely better than my old drip machine, the moka pot is also smaller, simpler, and far more beautiful to display. One unexpected side effect is that, because it makes much stronger coffee, I now drink less volume of coffee for the same amount of caffeine which means I finish it much sooner in the day and spend the rest of the time drinking water.

Today I ground up coffee beans, half a cinnamon stick, some nutmeg, and some red pepper flakes. I brewed it all up and poured it over honey and milk. Highly recommended.
