Permanently Banned Within 24 Hours for No Apparent Reason

I created my first-ever Hinge account and was permanently banned less than 24 hours later, after matching with just one person. I've never been banned from any dating app before, so this came as a complete surprise. Given how little I had even used the app, I can't help but feel like this was some kind of technical error or mistake with their moderation system.

I submitted an appeal hoping to get the situation cleared up, but it was denied without any explanation. I then went out of my way to contact Hinge Support directly, only to receive another generic, copy-and-paste response that provided absolutely no answers.

What frustrates me most is the complete lack of transparency. I understand that dating apps need rules and moderation to keep their users safe, but permanently banning someone without telling them what they supposedly did wrong seems incredibly unreasonable. How can you have a fair appeal process when you're not even told what you're appealing against?

I was genuinely looking forward to trying Hinge. Instead, I barely got to use the app before being permanently removed, with no meaningful explanation or opportunity to resolve the situation.

Overall, an extremely disappointing experience. I can't recommend an app that treats its users this way, especially when there's seemingly no accountability when mistakes may have been made.

Grinder with captions. Hinge promotes the worst type of dating behaviour, ghosting, vanishing contacts without explanation. Giving you minimal information regarding why and if you unmatch by mistake, you cannot reverse it. It encourages fear of dating, since (in the name of profit maximisation) all they really want you to do is be frustrated and spend more. Their best price is 3 months. You'll exhaust your search in 3 weeks. Not worth subscribing.

Ich habe mich bei dieser Dating-App angemeldet, weil ich gehofft hatte, eine sympathische Frau kennenzulernen und vielleicht eine ernsthafte Beziehung aufzubauen.

Leider war das Ergebnis ernüchternd. Kaum Matches, keine wirklichen Kontakte und praktisch überhaupt keine Entwicklung.

Man investiert Zeit, macht sich Hoffnungen und wartet darauf, dass endlich einmal etwas passiert. Doch bei mir blieb der erhoffte Erfolg komplett aus.

Natürlich kann eine Dating-App keine Beziehung garantieren. Aber wenn sich praktisch nichts tut, fragt man sich irgendwann, welchen Sinn die ganze Sache überhaupt hat.

Mein Fazit: Hinge war für mich eine einzige Enttäuschung und reine Zeitverschwendung. Ich kann die App aufgrund meiner persönlichen Erfahrungen nicht empfehlen. Von mir gibt es nur einen Stern!

The amount they ask for ($90 for 3 months) a rip-off. The amount of time you must wait to get new profiles (11 - 21 hours). The passive aggressive process of "unmatching" with guys who literally stop communicating with you yet it's "your fault" when you want to stop wasting your time. The insane & money grabbing process of buying and sending "roses". The algorithm matching you with women when you've clearly identified as gay. The entire app is toxic.

Support non-existent I’m just shouting into the void.

Trying to resurrect my account. Code generates via text. And then fails to send the second layer email code.

Multiple cases. Not even an auto reply.

I have to agree with a lot of the other reviews on here. Very expensive, pay for a subscription and then Hinge try and charge you more for other features that they offer. A lot of hidden expenses.

Ich habe eine gute Datingplattform für mein Alter gesucht und mir wurde Hinge empfohlen.

Ich habe Hinge daraufhin nur kostenlos ausprobiert und war doch sehr schockiert. Alle vorgeschlagenen Männer waren tätowiert, was irgendwie gekünstelt wirkt. Manche Profile zeigten unnatürlichen Lebensstil, wie fette Jachten, protzige Autos und ein Profil hatte sogar eine ganze Villa. Das sieht für mich eher nach gestellter KI aus, als nach echten Profilen und wirklich gemeinsamen Interessen.

Zudem hatte ich ein einziges Match, dass sich zufällig ergeben hat, in dem die Likes gepasst haben. Leider war der Typ, wenn er überhaupt echt war, total durchgeknallt. Er hat ständig gefragt, ob ich jetzt fruchtbar sei und er wöllte mich mit seinem Samen befruchten. So ganz mal ohne sich überhaupt je einmal gesehen zu haben. Als ich schrieb, dass ich gerade keine Lust habe, weil ich meine Tage bekomme, hat er einfach weiter mit der Nummer gemacht. Auch das deutet auf eine KI hin. Zudem wollte er mir über Whatsapp bestimmte Bilder schicken, woran ich kein Interesse hatte.

Mir kommt Hinge daher eher wie eine billige Seite für bestimmte Dienste vor, als für eine reale Datingseite. Ich fühle mich dort nicht wohl und habe die Seite daher wieder verlassen ohne was zu bezahlen.

I downloaded Hinge with the optimism of someone who had just watched a rom-com. I spent a solid twenty minutes crafting a bio that was witty but not trying to be witty, picked photos that said “adventurous yet approachable,” and answered a prompt about my ideal Sunday with what I thought was devastating charm.

Then I started browsing, quietly and respectfully, like a very polite ghost in a museum. I sent no messages. I made no matches. I did not so much as breathe on anyone’s profile.

A few hours later: “Your account has been removed for violating our terms.”

I’d like to stress that my entire criminal record on this app consisted of having a profile and looking at other profiles. That is, as far as I can tell, the whole product. I have been convicted of using the app as intended.

I have so many questions. Was my Sunday prompt too charming? Was I too approachable? Did the algorithm take one look at my photos and decide the dating pool needed protecting? I will never know, because the appeals process is a closed door with a tiny “we have reviewed your case” sign on it.

Pros.
Beautifully designed app.
Fastest rejection I’ve ever received, and I’ve been rejected professionally.
Finally, a dating app that “designed to be deleted” took literally, on my behalf

Cons.
Zero matches, zero messages, zero explanation, banned for a crime I can’t identify.
I still don’t know what I did wrong, which is also my dating history

Hinge, if you’re reading this. I’m not even mad. I'm mostly bemused and confused. Please send details, or at minimum, a fish.

Hinge ist leider wie inzwischen wohl jede andere Dating App. Unabhängig von den technischen Eigenschaften findet man hier schlicht und ergreifend so gut wie keine einzige, echte Frau.

Man erkennt es sehr schnell an bestimmten Mustern:

1) Fast jede Frau dort sieht weit überdurchschnittlich gut aus.
2) Die Fotos sind fast alle professionell geschossen, kaum welche "aus dem Alltag".
3) Die Frauen haben komischerweise fast alle einen Hund und stehen auf Skifahren oder anderen "Bonzensport".

Dass man sich als Mann auf solchen Portalen zum Deppen machen und auf das Gesetz der großen Zahl hoffen muss, ist einfach ein Grundprinzip des Online Datings. Das funktioniert aber nicht, wenn vielleicht 1% der Frauen dort überhaupt real ist und dem zig tausende, wirklich suchende Männer gegenüberstehen.

Expensive Subscription, Virtually No Results

My experience with Hinge has been incredibly disappointing, particularly given the cost of its premium subscriptions.

Having previously paid for a subscription with very little success, I decided to give the app one final chance by upgrading to its highest subscription tier, costing approximately £70 for three months. Unfortunately, the results so far have been virtually non-existent.

One of my biggest frustrations is the daily recommended or “compatible” matches. The people suggested are frequently nowhere near what I would consider a suitable match for me, particularly in terms of physical attraction. Of course, attraction isn't everything, but it is an important part of romantic compatibility. If there is no initial attraction, there is little incentive to pursue a connection in the first place.

Meanwhile, when I take the time to like profiles that genuinely interest me and thoughtfully respond to their prompts, the results are almost always the same: little to no engagement or meaningful matches. It leaves me questioning whether my profile is actually being shown to the people I'm liking, especially when paying for a premium subscription is supposed to offer additional benefits in how you interact with the app.

The option to reset your account and start afresh hasn't made any meaningful difference either. The same cycle continues, with very little to show for the time and money invested.

What makes this particularly frustrating is the amount of effort Hinge expects from its users. Selecting photographs, writing thoughtful prompts, keeping your profile updated and crafting personalised responses to other people's profiles can genuinely feel like a part-time job. You put considerable time and effort into presenting yourself well and trying to make genuine connections, only to receive virtually nothing in return.

I appreciate that no dating app can guarantee matches, and nobody is entitled to another person's interest. However, when a platform charges a premium for additional features, I expect those features to offer some meaningful value. Instead, the experience has left me questioning what I'm actually paying for.

Hinge promotes itself as an app designed to help people find meaningful connections, yet the matching process feels like a complete black box. There is little transparency about how compatibility is determined, how profiles are distributed, or whether paying for a higher subscription tier makes any meaningful difference to your visibility.

At this point, the experience feels borderline scam-like. I'm not suggesting that Hinge is deliberately withholding matches, but the disconnect between the money spent, the effort required and the results achieved is difficult to justify.

I won't be paying for another subscription. After trying both a previous subscription and the highest tier, I have very little confidence that spending more money will improve my experience. If you're considering paying for premium, I'd strongly recommend thinking carefully about whether the additional cost is worth it. Based on my personal experience, it certainly hasn't been.

Have tried to reach out to customer services as not getting messages and wanted them to send me one to check all ok. Kept sending me an automated message from nate saying they had checked my account and all ok. Yeah sure they had just pressed send auto reply more like!! Waste of money

They have more than 30 million users globally and they show you less than 100 people. Very, very limited access. The algorithm is really meant for you NOT to meet anyone because if you did, they'd go out of business. Don't waste your money. They charge a lot for little return.

I would give Hinge zero stars if I could. My account has been permanently restricted for over six months due to what appears to have been a technical issue with the camera during account verification. I have repeatedly contacted support, but all I receive are automated responses telling me to appeal through the app.

The problem is that I have already submitted an appeal, and the app will not let me submit another one or upload my ID. I am now willing to verify my identity, but there is no way for me to do so. I have explained this repeatedly, yet nobody seems to actually read my messages or address the problem.

What is the point of having a support team if they cannot help users who are locked out of the very process they keep directing them to use? Being stuck in an endless loop of automated responses for over six months is incredibly frustrating and disappointing.

I genuinely enjoyed using Hinge, but the lack of meaningful customer support and the inability to resolve a potentially fixable technical issue have completely changed my opinion of the app. Users deserve a fair review process and access to real human support, especially when they are willing to cooperate with identity verification.

Until Hinge improves its customer support and provides a practical way to resolve account issues, I cannot recommend it.
