Mr O’Connell, who has served as an Australian-based independent Director of the Foxtel Group following its purchase by DAZN in 2025, will immediately take on the role of Group CEO reporting to Mr Delany and the local Board of the Foxtel Group. In addition, Mark Frain, the current CEO of DAZN Media+ is being promoted to the newly created role of CEO Streaming and Advertising. Mr Frain will take overall responsibility for driving the advertising side of the business as well as the powerhouse Kayo Sports and BINGE subscription business. Patrick Delany said of the appointments: “Peter has agreed to take on the role of CEO of the Australian business where he will support me while guiding the leadership team and providing stability and continuity as well as a renewed focus on new revenue generating opportunities. “Peter has wide corporate experience as a CEO, successful Founder and Chair and has been a great influence on our business since joining the Australian board last year. He brings a depth of experience and knowledge in advancing consumer businesses and will be a great leader and mentor for senior leaders across our business,” Mr Delany said. “Mark has been an exceptional leader for our organisation and done an exceptional job in not only continuing to build the commercial side of DAZN Media+ but has also shown great flair and a natural instinct for disruption in the way he has evolved the business and the product mix to generate more revenue streams. It is an important role and one that reflects the faith we have in Mark’s leadership ability, his knowledge of the Australian media market as well as his ability to drive strong commercial outcomes.” Mr O’Connell said: “The Foxtel Group is positioned well for future growth and is in a really strong financial position with real momentum on earnings and subs growth. After being on the Board for the past year I have had a unique opportunity to get across the company’s operations and am looking forward to working closely with Patrick as chairman and Mark in his new role driving the next era of Foxtel’s growth and further building on the strong relationship with our partner sports, distributors and producers.” Mr Frain said: “This is the best media company in the country and with all the major sporting rights and Hollywood studio rights locked down, we have a great opportunity to focus on taking growth to a whole new level and I will be working closely with Peter to achieve that.”

Something strange is happening with social media (again). Many of the biggest and well-funded brands have started making their content worse, seemingly on purpose. If only they could harness all the people that ARE actually worse than them at making content, they wouldn't need to fake authenticity. https://lnkd.in/eVQ2WXcd The Checkout Patrick CrowleyThere's no need to fake authentic content, you have it in spadesThere's no need to fake authentic content, you have it in spades

“Several years ago I came to a Good Egg Lunch and the Balmoral Burn, and was incredibly moved by how Humpty has saved lives, and some of the inspirational life journeys that some of these kids have been on,” Peter told The Good Egg.
That was in 2005 and since then, Peter – with a lot of help from his clients and industry friends including Channel 9, Network Ten, the Seven Network and Fox Sports – has put together an annual media (advertising) package worth $400,000 that has been successfully auctioned at
the annual Balmoral Burn Sponsors’ Dinner. “The generosity of OMD is awesome. I can’t underscore enough how important Peter and his team around Australia are to Humpty’s ongoing ability to help kids’ hospitals across the nation,” says the charity’s Founder, Paul Francis.
“The amount of money is staggering and Peter and OMD manage to come through for us every year. That consistency of generosity has become an unofficial foundation stone on which the charity proudly stands and, just as importantly, it’s meant that we could extend beyond the New South Wales borders to every state when the doctors and nurses came knocking.”
Three years ago the company had a national conference at which staff came up with a scheme called Big, Hairy, Audacious Goals. As Peter explains, one goal that came from that scheme
was to “give back” to the community as a company and also give staff individual days off to get involved with their own charities. By the end of this year, they will be close to beating their three year target to raise $3 million by an impressive $1 million. And that does not include OMD’s annual gift to Humpty. Peter says the OMD staff makes him “incredibly proud”.

Thanks AdNews Australia for sharing Luke Brown’s perspective on a topic the industry doesn’t discuss often enough: why so much modern media advice sounds smart, yet fails to deliver growth. We’ve never had more tools, more data or more dashboards. Yet penetration gains are stubborn and the link between media activity and commercial outcomes continues to weaken. The issue isn’t advertising. It’s how we’ve started interpreting effectiveness. Reach is treated as the outcome. Attention becomes the proxy. Reporting becomes the story. Luke’s piece explores how a handful of persistent myths are quietly distorting decision-making. If effectiveness is meant to mean growth, not just activity, it’s well worth the read. https://lnkd.in/gSwAsvvt
