About us
Brumby builds autonomous aerial mustering systems that help graziers move cattle calmly, frequently, and with far less time and effort. By using intelligent drones instead of helicopters, bikes, or horses, we make it practical to rotate stock more often, respond faster to pasture conditions, and manage larger herds with the same team. We partnered with leading experts in low-stress stockmanship to teach our system how cattle actually think and move. Brumby reads their position, speed, and pressure, and applies the same calm, deliberate cues a skilled stockperson would, keeping herds together and stress low. The result is better welfare for cattle, healthier pastures through tighter rotational grazing, and a dramatic reduction in the time, cost, and physical toll of mustering. GrazeMate exists to help farmers like our families manage their properties the way they've always wanted to.

GrazeMate is now Brumby. Same team. Same drones. And now a name that actually fits. When we started, we were building one app to help graziers keep an eye on their properties. GrazeMate said what it did. We're doing a lot more than that now, and at some point the old name stopped keeping up. A brumby is an Australian wild horse. They're tough, free roaming, and self sufficient - everything we are building towards. Brumby (Formerly GrazeMate) is hiring a Lead Robotics Engineer. We're building autonomous drones that move and monitor cattle across some of the world's largest ranches. We've been through YC (W26), closed our seed round from top Valley investors shortly after and we are already working with graziers that manage hundreds of thousands of cattle. As we enter this next chapter, we're looking for a Lead Robotics Engineer, someone who wants to stay deeply hands-on while stepping into a people leadership role as we scale. You will build Brumby's robotics stack, from control architecture through to fleet orchestration, and define how autonomous drones operate across remote environments in Australia and the US. This is our most senior technical hire on the team. You will work directly with the founder, own major technical decisions, and help shape both the technical direction and engineering culture of the company as we scale. Engineering is based in Sydney, but the work happens everywhere. Expect to write code at a desk, in a truck, and in the dirt. Today we're releasing GrazeMate PastureView. Ranchers make grazing decisions across thousands of acres every day. PastureView helps them make those decisions with confidence. GrazeMate ranches now see how much standing dry matter they have available for every cow in their mob. They can see what's being consumed, and how fast it's growing back. Better information means better utilisation. Better utilisation means more beef per acre.

I'm always asked why we use drones instead of bikes or horses to move cattle at GrazeMate (YC W26) Usually the answer is some combination of time, labour or cost. Last week, it was pretty simple. Without a drone, these guys could have been stuck There’s a lot on a ranch that’s impossible to control, and no tech will change that. We’re hoping tools like GrazeMate (YC W26) will at least be there to support graziers when that unpredictability inevitably hits.

A 19-year-old farmer from North Queensland has raised $1.2 million to fix a problem he grew up with. Sam Rogers watched his dad spend long days mustering cattle and figured there had to be a better way. His startup, GrazeMate, uses autonomous drones to move herds with a tap on a phone.
