The trademark protection journey began with a priority filing via the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), establishing a global priority date that applies to subsequent international filings. From there, the ASTEROID brand was extended through the WIPO Madrid System — the international treaty that allows a single application to designate protection in dozens of member countries simultaneously. Current active designations cover Japan, China, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and 17 African nations through the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI).

In the United States, three separate USPTO filings protect both the ASTEROID primary mark and the ASTEROID SHIBA sub-brand. These filings cover international trademark classes 35, 36, and 42 — encompassing cryptocurrency services, financial technology, blockchain-based virtual currencies, marketing services, and information technology services.

The BENELUX registration (covering Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) was the first to reach full registered status, with Registration Number 1548904 granting a 10-year term of protection from 2026 to 2036. This milestone makes ASTEROID one of the very few tokens to hold an actively registered trademark certificate anywhere in the world.

An additional offshore brand protection layer was established via a Cayman Islands trademark filing, ensuring ASTEROID's brand identity is defended in key financial and corporate jurisdictions. Combined with the broader WIPO network, this creates a comprehensive global shield against unauthorized use, imitation, and brand dilution by competing or copycat tokens.

This IP investment — exceeding $120,000 USD — is a direct signal of the community's long-term conviction in the ASTEROID project.
