Black History Month
Book Of The Month.
I am a big fan of fantasy so I have to acknowledge a bias for this month's Book of the Month.
Three pages and this book had all of my attention. I was fully invested in these characters and this unfolding story. The other books I had on the go all sat and gathered dust.
Fantasy stories afford us the space to address the things that are so often unsaid or difficult to articulate and this book is no exception. War, propaganda, hate, love, the pursuit of our own stories, identities and cultures are all tackled here and done so with a skill and penmanship that is exquisite.
Each character pulls you in and you want to keep unwrapping their stories past, present and future.
I want everyone to read this book, because I think that everyone will love it and so that we can all talk about it.
Discovering history. Discovering power.
The books that will make an impact all year long.

Why can't Black people find a seat at the table?
If the same man sits down takes the menu from the woman without asking and tells her he will be ordering for her, she would be peeved.
