Hey, I'm Walter πŸ‘‹

Systems engineer at heart. Curious by nature.

I've spent much of my career leading technology, operations, and business transformation, primarily in financial services. But I've never lost my passion for understanding how things work, questioning assumptions, and finding better ways to build them.

GitHub is where I give that curiosity some room to breathe.

πŸ” What I'm working on

  • Architecture Assets β€” A growing collection of architectural diagrams, notes, and ideas about software design, domain boundaries, distributed systems, and the trade-offs behind technical decisions.
  • Software engineering experiments β€” Playing with code, testing architectural ideas, and exploring new technologies. Sometimes with a specific goal, sometimes just to see what happens.

🌱 What I'm exploring

  • Software architecture β€” Domain-Driven Design, event-driven systems, and managing complexity.
  • AI & automation β€” Where intelligence belongs in software systems, what it should be responsible for, and how to use it meaningfully.
  • Engineering practices β€” Tools, patterns, and approaches that make software easier to build, understand, and evolve.

I'm particularly drawn to questions like: Who owns this decision? What happens when something fails? Could we make this simpler?

πŸ’¬ Ask me about

Software architecture, insurance technology, business transformation, or why the human side of technology is often more challenging than the technology itself.

I enjoy exchanging ideas, challenging assumptions, and learning from different perspectives.

🎸 Beyond the keyboard

Music is another creative outlet for me. I also enjoy photography, tennis, and exploring new places.

I believe curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to experiment are just as valuable outside technology as they are within it.
