Read-only anon cvs access is available like so:
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@dynlangcvs.ai.mit.edu:/projects/dynlangs/cvsroot login cvs -z3 -d :pserver:anonymous@dynlangcvs.ai.mit.edu:/projects/dynlangs/cvsroot co goo
The password is anonymous
Note: You're going to need to run autoconf to get yourself a configure script.
PS: You might need to install libgc / the Boehm collector from http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Hans_Boehm/gc/gc_source/gc.tar.gz
