Release 8.0.1 Supersedes the v8.0.0 tag, which points at a commit whose CI run failed on an EEXIST race in the protocol test setup. The fix landed after the tag, so 8.0.1 is cut from the CI-green commit rather than force-moving a published tag. Runtime behavior is identical to 8.0.0.
