Release Notes

anaconda/playwright-ts-utils (@anaconda/playwright-utils)

v1.4.5

Compare Source

Fixed
  • anaconda-pw-setup Playwright CLI install — Global install now uses @playwright/cli@0.1.13 instead of the deprecated playwright-cli package name; manual install instructions in README and templates/CLAUDE.md updated to match (#80).

v1.4.4

Compare Source

Added
  • scripts/resolve-consumer-root.sh — shared resolver exporting CONSUMER_ROOT, GIT_ROOT, and CONSUMER_REL so quality and pre-commit CLIs run from the QA npm install root (not git root) (#74).
  • playwright-utils-precommit (scripts/precommit.sh) — QA-scoped Husky entry: skips lint-staged and report entirely when no staged files are under the consumer tree; otherwise runs both from CONSUMER_ROOT only. Consumers should use "precommit": "playwright-utils-precommit" instead of wiring lint-staged and commit-quality-report separately (#74).
  • anaconda-pw-setup playwright-cli check — Detects global @playwright/cli and recommended version (0.1.13); interactive install/upgrade with --install-cli and --skip-cli-check (#72).
  • Playwright CLI skill v0.1.13 — Synced templates/skills/playwright-cli/ with upstream; new references element-attributes.md, playwright-tests.md, and spec-driven-testing.md (#73).
  • playwright-cli-skill-syncer agent — Maintainer agent to merge upstream .claude/skills/playwright-cli/ into templates/ while preserving Anaconda customizations (#73).
Updated
  • Quality/pre-commit CLIs — playwright-utils-quality-full, playwright-utils-full-quality-report, playwright-utils-commit-quality-report, and playwright-utils-check-code-quality resolve consumer root, follow .bin symlinks, and document the full playwright-utils-* bin matrix in README, CLAUDE.md, and qa-automation-quality skill/guidelines (#74).
  • Manual review secrets heuristic — Hook [4] manual-review/secrets skips tests/testdata/**/*.ts, aligned with ESLint inline test-data rules (#75).
  • Default testIdAttribute (data-qa-id) documentation (#76, #77) — Clarified across agents, skills, cursor rules, locators.md, and config comments how Anaconda’s configured test ID differs from Playwright’s stock default:
    • AnacondaProjectDefaults.testIdAttribute remains 'data-qa-id' (Playwright’s built-in default is 'data-testid'). Consumers spread AnacondaProjectDefaults in playwright.config.ts so page.getByTestId() / getLocatorByTestId() resolve data-qa-id only — not data-testid, data-test, or other data-* names unless the project overrides use.testIdAttribute.
    • Tier 1 rule — For a single standalone element with data-qa-id, always use getLocatorByTestId('value'); never raw CSS [data-qa-id="value"]. For 2+ ancestor levels, CSS compounds such as '[data-qa-id="channel-list"] [data-qa-id="pending-btn"]' or getLocatorByTestId('parent').locator('[data-qa-id="child"]') remain valid.
    • Tier 2 rule — Other data-* attributes (data-testid, data-test, data-product-id, etc.) are not the configured testId; use CSS/XPath selectors (e.g. SauceDemo inventory uses [data-test="inventory-container"] because data-test ≠ configured testIdAttribute).
    • Generator/healer/planner agents (#77) — Point to SKILL.md as the authoritative CLI-to-library table; generator documents the single-element vs compound scoping split; planner/healer reference references/locators.md for the full 9-tier priority.
    • getLocatorByTestId JSDoc — Notes that the global attribute comes from playwright.config.ts and defaults to data-testid only when AnacondaProjectDefaults is not applied (#76).
  • Agent and skill documentation (#76) —
    • Reference Documents sections in generator, healer, and planner agents with installed paths (.claude/skills/anaconda-playwright-utils/references/...) instead of bare references/....
    • Timeout constants table in anaconda-playwright-utils/SKILL.md (INSTANT_TIMEOUT through TEST_TIMEOUT) with import examples from main entry and ./constants.
    • Soft assertions — Generator documents { soft: true } on assertion helpers and the allowed spec-level assertAllSoftAssertions(test.info()) checkpoint.
    • Reference cleanup — Removed noisy logger.info() from examples; fixed BASe_URL typo and missing imports; added toBeOK() vs exact status guidance for API assertions.
    • Prettier-safe markdown — Patterns in CLAUDE.md / templates/CLAUDE.md to avoid Prettier escaping bold globs and bold-before-colon.
  • Agent guidance alignment (#77) —
    • Structured test-plan output for the generator: ## Suite, ### Test, **Steps:**, **Expected:**.
    • Planner workflow — Explicit Close Browser step before analysis (not after).
    • Healer — Healing-specific CLI translations (hover, dblclick, count, label, clear/clearByJS); test.fixme() must include a ticket reference; Key Principles moved to the top.
    • @fixture path alias — Added to tsconfig.json; library example specs import test from @fixture instead of src/playwright-utils; documented in CLAUDE.md.
  • anaconda-playwright-utils skill — Added clear/clearByJS CLI mappings; fixed logger import from default to named { logger } (#76).
  • Documentation — Install package renamed playwright-cli → @playwright/cli (#73).
  • SauceDemo example tests (#76) — productsContainer uses [data-test="inventory-container"] (tier-2 CSS, not getLocatorByTestId); verifyProductsPageIsDisplayed() accepts an optional timeout (SMALL_TIMEOUT default); failure spec passes INSTANT_TIMEOUT; parameterized invalid-login credentials moved to tests/testdata/sauce-demo-test-data.ts.
Fixed
  • Quality/pre-commit consumer root — Fixes ENOENT for package.json when QA lives in a subdirectory (functional_tests/, e2e/, workspace packages). Pre-commit filters staged files to the QA tree only so dev monorepo paths are not linted or reported (#74).
  • UserAPIVerifier — Base URL from environment variable via instance field (#76).
  • Setup script — TTY detection checks stdin.isTTY and stdout.isTTY; sets process.exitCode=1 on CLI install error (#73).

v1.4.3

Compare Source

Added
  • Full-repo quality npm bins for consumers — playwright-utils-quality-full (npm run quality:full) runs format, ESLint fix + verify, and code-quality checks in compact mode (stops on first failure). playwright-utils-full-quality-report (npm run quality:report) runs the same steps with per-step PASS/FAIL banners, then section [4] manual-review hints on all tests/**/*.ts (#69).
  • scripts/full-quality.sh and scripts/full-quality-report.sh — Packaged scripts behind the new bins; consumers define format, lint:fix, and lint in their own package.json while step [3] uses playwright-utils-check-code-quality from the package (#69).
Updated
  • Duplicate function/method body scan — scan-duplicate-function-hints.js now flags duplicates in class methods, constructors, property initializers, object-literal methods, arrows, and export default forms—not only top-level functions—with cross-file reporting, improved body normalization, and --files-from for large tests/ trees (#68).
  • Manual review hints — scan-manual-review-hints.sh --full-tests and print-manual-review-hint.sh support full-tree scanning in quality:report; pre-commit still scans staged files only. Section [4] remains WARN-only (#68, #69).
  • Documentation — README, CLAUDE.md, and qa-automation-quality skill/guidelines document quality:full vs quality:report, consumer script wiring, and expanded duplicate-scan scope in the quality gates catalog (#68, #69).

v1.4.2

Compare Source

Changed
  • JSDoc complexity is now non-blocking — Complex test-helper methods without JSDoc are reported as code-quality/jsdoc-complexity warnings instead of errors, and check:code-quality treats those findings as advisory while still failing on blocking checks like file naming, unjustified test.skip, and TODOs without ticket references (#66).
Fixed
  • Packaged quality CLIs resolve companion scripts correctly — playwright-utils-check-code-quality, playwright-utils-commit-quality-report, playwright-utils-print-manual-review-hint, and related script calls now follow npm .bin symlinks and fall back to @anaconda/playwright-utils/package.json resolution so they can find the package scripts/ directory when run from consumer projects (#65).
  • Package metadata export — Added ./package.json to package exports so installed scripts can resolve the package root reliably (#65).

v1.4.1

Compare Source

Added
  • Commit quality report and manual-review hint scripts as npm bins — commit-quality-report and print-manual-review-hint are now exposed as executable npm bin commands for easier integration into CI/CD pipelines and local workflows (#62).
  • ESLint formatter Unix — Added eslint-formatter-unix as a dependency (#63).

v1.4.0

Compare Source

Added
  • Pre-commit quality gates — Husky + lint-staged (Prettier write, ESLint fix + verify on staged files) plus scripts/commit-quality-report.sh for a unified verify report after staging; aligns with npm run precommit and related quality:* scripts (#51).
  • Claude Code review workflow — Repository workflow for automated code review (#50).
  • ESLint naming conventions and file naming gate — Stricter naming rules for tests and a kebab-case check for spec/test filenames (#54).
  • scripts/scan-manual-review-hints.sh and scripts/scan-duplicate-function-hints.js — Manual-review heuristics wired into commit-quality-report.sh (and print-manual-review-hint.sh): line pointers for tagged items, brittle selectors/secrets patterns, and duplicate top-level exported function bodies (manual-review/duplication).
Updated
  • Markdown test plans — Standard layout and references now use tests/test-plans/ across docs, agents, and Cursor rules (#53).
  • Dependencies and engines — Direct dependencies pinned in package.json / lockfile; ncu:check / ncu:update adjusted for controlled bumps (#58). @playwright/test peer is ~1.60.0 (patch-level within 1.60). Node >=20.19.0. lint-staged held at 16.4.0 so installs are not forced onto the Node 22+ requirement of lint-staged 17.x.
  • husky and lint-staged — Shipped as dependencies so consumers get the same hook behavior when the package is installed.
  • package.json scripts — Expanded quality and sync scripts (for example quality:full, quality:report, precommit, sync:qa-automation-quality-skill, and related wiring).
Fixed
  • API example tests — Pet/book API page objects and pet API spec brought in line with quality checks (#52).
  • commit-quality-report.sh — Resolves script paths correctly when the package (and scripts) live under node_modules (#60).
Changed
  • Code quality scripts — test.skip / heuristic handling ignores full-line // comments; TODO comments without a ticket reference are enforced as errors (#57).

v1.3.7

Compare Source

Updated
  • templates/CLAUDE.md overhauled for consumers — Redesigned from 315 to 249 lines by removing all content duplicated from SKILL.md (103-function reference tables, 38-row CLI-to-library mapping). File now focuses on project conventions and rules, delegating API reference to skills. Rules consolidated into four sub-categories (Library Usage, Assertions, Locators, Code Quality) with a compact 9-tier locator priority list.
