The elders are allies in Donkey Kong Bananza. They are a group of five very large animals who act as leaders for the layers in which they reside. They are also DJs, and each of them teaches Donkey Kong and Pauline a Bananza that corresponds to their species if the duo returns their Ancient Record to its turntable, known as an Eternatable.[1]

After King K. Rool is defeated and Pauline returns to the Underground World, the elders challenge DK and Pauline with going through a Bananza Rehearsal, a long and difficult level prominently built around the Bananza they taught the duo. After the Rehearsal is completed, a new skill related to the corresponding Bananza is unlocked, and a copy of the Ancient Record appears on that layer in front of the Eternatable.
